What is everyones opinion on why nascar changes so many things every year?? I mean they change tires at almost every track every year. They change the spolier alomost every year! Now its the impound rule! I mean why dont they find a tire that works at a track and leave it that way!
I mean you dont see nfl change footballs every year or change how many points a field goal is. I mean the sport changes so much that its about ridiculos. Im a big nascar fan have been all my life! I know nascar is trying to make it more competiative and less expensive. My point is they are only making it worse.?! Once the crew chiefs figure something out its out the window the next year because it willn't be the same!!

Not all change is bad. I think most of the changes are to keep the competition equal, while others are to keep costs down for the less well financed teams. And yes, other leagues make changes all the time. The NFL is always making changes to make the game better (instant replay, salary cap).

Personally I would like to see some of the races shortened. We went to the Firestone 200 this past weekend, had a helluva time, and it was over in two hours (imagine that). Much nicer than the 5 hour marathons that NASCAR puts on. Just my :twocents:

yes i understand to make it better. I mean green white checkered. I understand some of them i mean. instant replay i mean you have to make the right calls to be a fair game! I mean nascar is always under review everthing is! My point is if its not broke dont fix it! If it works good one year than it will the next! They change too much. Tires, impound rules, areo packages, championship point system, lucky dog rule, quailifing rules. I mean it can go on and on!! you see other sports doing it over a long span not just one year!

Translation - NASCAR changes the rules to ensure that no one dominates and to keep viewers around until the end of races in order to keep TV ratings up and ad dollars flowing.

You can bet that they are going to do whatever they can to get the #24 and the #8 in the Chase.

nascar is very very very very very rich. and they make good decisions that make them richer every second.

rather we like thier ways or not, better get used to them. it will only get worse.

like when they go race in japan or london or something, and make it a regular points race. booooooooooooo

Sadly, there's not much difference between the WWE and some of those "Cautions for Debris" that you see sometimes.

I agree with you on most of these. I hate the inpound rule, and I despise the stupid lucky dog. I wish they would go back to racin to the caution.

The championship needed to be changed, but I don't think the chase was the answer. The main reason for the chase is because NASCAR wants to try to compete with the NFL (it'll never happen). It still dosen't fix the problem I had with the points. A person could still win the championship without even winning a race. It's even more of a possibility now because there are usually 2/3 guys in the top ten with no wins. What they should've done, imo, is give 200 points to the winner, drop off to 170 for second, and keep the rest of the order as is. I also wish they would do away with bonus points for leading a lap. I know, I know, reward them for running up front bla, bla. I just think it's ridiculous that these guys can get freebie points because a teammate let them by to lead a lap. I also think it's ridiculous that a guy can stay out under caution to lead a lap and get 5 points, then come in and pit and come out where he would've been anyway.

I think it's goodyear that changes the tires, and not NASCAR.

Well in some cases i am sure it is goodyear but only when the tires they made dont work!! Nascar asks them to make a tire that wears out or dont wear out or to make them softer. I mean to make it better competetion but thats not working fing a tire that works and dont blow out and blister and leave it alone. I mean the are playing with peoples life in those cars.

And im sorry for all those people that think nascar is fake. For millions of dollars every race im sorry but nope.

Never said it was fake. Just meant that NASCAR does things at times to bunch fields together to keep things interesting.

We must have been posting at the same time. I agree that some of the calls are questionable, and the debris cautions do tend to come just in the nick of time for the more popular drivers.

What bugs me is the way many people try to compare NASCAR to WWE (I know that's not what you're saying, but many others do). Yes, NASCAR has some questionable calls, but name me a sport that dosen't.
