Saturday night will more than likely be the last race at the historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. It's a shame to see it closed to put in a park or office buildings.

I saw my first demolition derby there and I remember going one night in the early 90's, the Cup guys were off that weekend and Sterling Marlin was there. He ended up lapping the field that night.

Is anyone planning on attending Saturday night or have any memories from the track?

Dad raced there when I was real young. I have a little bit of memory from the place. He stopped racing because it was just ridiculously expensive. Even if you win, the prize isn't nearly enough to fix your car for the next race.

One of the best rivalries there was the late Andy Kirby and Joe Buford. I've seen a lot of races at the fairgrounds with my dad over the years. The Green brothers were big there at one point too.
