Nashville is no longer a country music city. It is the hime of today's music- the New Music City.

Didn't read the article, but Nashville has ALWAYS been Music City, USA, not Country Music City. Anyone who thinks otherwise has not spent a significant amount of time there. I grew up there, heavily involved in the music scene. I've probably been to more than 500 concerts in Nashville, not a single one of them country, western, or bluegrass.
A bunch of hipsters realized that Nashville has an awesome AND RIDICULOUSLY DIVERSE music scene, and now everyone thinks it just sprung up out of nowhere. False.

I definitely agree. I don't like the look of Broadway either, but I'm honestly fine with it. People understand now that Nashville has a lot to offer.I haven't been to nearly that many but yes, I've been to my fair share of concerts the past 15-20 years, and not one has been country. Most of them have been hard rock/metal. And the Black Keys concert I was at last month was the most packed I've seen Bridgestone for a rock concert.
The problem with Nashville is Broadway...way too much cheap looking honky-tonk crap places line that road. Otherwise I really like downtown.

Are there any bands actually from Nashville? One thing that I have always heard about Nashville is the local talent isn't that great. Not sure if it is true or not. Maybe you guys can answer.
they all become local when they move here. You never really know where they are from, but you seldom hear a live venue with a band that sucks. Especially singers. The singers are incredible, even in the middle of the week. Tootsie's in the airport has live music everyday. I haven't seen that anywhere else.
Yea there are some great musicians there for sure. What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to Lithium, Alt Nation, XL Backspin, Blues, Jazz and a little Octane--all on satellite radio or alternative music channels on Comcast cable. Music is always playing in our cars and home.
Going to the Allman Bros at the Ryman on the 28th and to Muse in September at the Arena.
All that said, if you haven't been buzzed and on the main floor of one of those live venues late night at one of the country spots, you are missing out. The women are ridiculous. Last time I went, it was @ 1 AM at Tootsies and you hear "MY NAME IS KIIIIID!" and kid rock is 10 feet in front of me on stage. The roof almost came off.
