So a positive thread: It's almost perfect how tailor made Peterman is to this potential new offensive system Jones will bring in. This is a best case scenario for him. He should be really happy right now.

I'm not saying run him off. Rather, the future looks bright too with NP running this offense.

Jones may adapt the offense to fit what he has here, but Peterman really is his prototypical QB (which is why he was recruited by Cincinnati).

Anyone know if the current commit, Riley Ferguson, is more of a traditional pro style QB or a potential dual threat? I think I read that he's a pro style QB, but wanted to confirm.

Bray isnt going to be here regardless. I'm not really sure he is the leader you want anyway. Peterman fits the system and Asiantii Woulard, an elite 11 QB, tweeted his interest in the hire. I think we will be ok

We should have hired Dan Mullen if we wanted the spread

Do you happen to know if Mullen has a non-compete clause in his contract? If he does, this is the most pointless comment that could possibly pop up in this thread. And when one considers that most SEC head coaches have non-compete clauses in their contracts, this comment just oozes irrelevence.

Pro style, but with about the same foot speed as Peterman. Ferguson is skinnier (190), though, so you would need to add weight without affecting his speed.

Not the best case scenario, obviousely, especially since we have all been led down the path to believe that Jon Gruden was on his way here so our expectations were probably not where they should have been to begin with, but the best thing we can all do now is get behind our new coach and our team and give them the support they need, doesnt mean we have to support those that have caused this to be the clusterfest it became (CHEEK & HART), but from what i can see, Coach Jones is a good coach, has alot of intensity and integrity, and really wanted to be the HFCATUTK. In my book, its done, and he is now one of us. Go Vols!

I prefer pro style.. Spread hurts in the recruiting at WR and usually 0 TE's on the roster-

WR won't be as important in this offense as it was in Chaney's, but TE's will be. Croom could kill at the TE position (much like Kelce did at Cincinnati this year).

Clearly the spread has really hurt Baylor, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Florida (under Meyer) as it related to recruiting offensive talent. I mean, just look at those top ten offenses. Horrible effects...

Gruden wanted to run the spread as well go read about how he wanted to study chip Kelly's offense

We need to start by fixing the defense--which is a horror show; and then work on the offense. Find a freakin' QB who can run, please--at least roll out, scramble for a first down, if not run the spread. Let's paint the whole field in a checkboard pattern, while we're at it.

Unless he plans on changing his offense, he will do exactly that. Anyone who has wanted a mobile QB should be happy with this hire.

Peterman is ultimately going to be a pro-style quarterback.

Expect him to transfer in the next few months.

If Bray stays, Jones will certainly adapt his offense to accomodate him. But with Hunter & CP likely gone and breaking in a new coach with a different style, Bray would be well advised now to go ahead and enter the draft. Nothing against Bray, just pointing out that it makes the most sense for him now.
