CJOnline / The Topeka Capital-Journal - Planning under way for Obama holiday

Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation's 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.

"Yes We Can" planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald's restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama's honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

At 7:30 a.m. on Inauguration Day, Obama Cake will be served at the downtown McDonald's, and a celebration is scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight Jan. 20 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th.

For more information, contact Sonny Scroggins, (785) 232-3761, 845-6148 or at biasbustersofkansas@yahoo.com; Lamont Lassiter, McDonald's general manager, 608-2739; Ava Chander-Beard, (785) 234-9138, ava.beard@sbcglobal.net

note to self, eat at Burger King while enjoying the sights and sounds of Topeka, KS.

the owner of the McDonalds has told that nutjob Scroggins to not include her establishment in his worship of the Obamassiah.

CJOnline / The Topeka Capital-Journal - Activist seeks national holiday

Scroggins hit another roadblock when the downtown McDonald's, long his staging ground, heard about his upcoming planning sessions.

"You absolutely do not have permission to do any kind of Obama planning," owner Karen Tyler said in a voice mail left on Scroggins' phone and played for The Capital-Journal.

Scroggins said he has held court at the fast-food joint for years with no problems and wasn't sure why he was being kicked out now.

Tyler couldn't be reached for comment, but the longtime advocate wasn't relenting. He will be at the downtown McDonald's at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. today as planned to let those who show up know of the new plans.

Plan B calls for the first planning session to take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Langston Hughes room at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th.

"I'm in this for the long term," Scroggins said.

once this wacko is arrested for trespassing, I'm looking for LG to run to his defense.
