Nationally, Thompson is tanking

One would think he would quit while he is ahead but I doubt it

Seeing him sinking in states he was faring well in is as concrete as it can get. He shrugged off NH, made a token effort in IA, and now is slipping in FL and SC - both considered his firewall.

If things weren't already bad enough for Fred, he's now losing in GA. So add that to the fact he's trailing in SC and it looks like Fred's people are all flocking to Huck. To lose two major states in his southern strategy means he really is finished. This means AR, GA, SC, and FL are now out. Rumors are that he's trailing in AL as well. With nothing left to play for how much longer before he drops out?

Tell you what, Drudge has it right. The Dems would just be giddy at Huckabee as the candidate. Some of his more extreme social and religious/government views finally coming out and there's a pretty fair sized "wow, he said what?" factor out there in mainstream America.

It's funny how everybody pounces as soon as somebody is perceived to be making headway. Oprah makes an appearance with Obama and the Clinton and Edwards camps go into attack mode. Huckabee says something about Jesus and the DNC is leaking stories to Drudge about how they'd love for him to win.

Did they? Was that proven?

Yeah, that's why I wish Fred was doing better, I really don't trust Rudy, Huck, or the other leaders on immigration.

What's a leak? What exactly are you referring to?

Drudge's flash from a couple of days ago where Democrats secretly thought Huckabee was an easy mark in a general election and had even dubbed him "Glass Jaw".

Secretly? They're openly talking about it. And it's common sense. I still don't see a leak in something that many of the talking heads on the left and insiders have been discussing since his surge in the polls. I guarantee you that the Clinton contacts in Arkansas have a file stuffed of opposition research on this guy. Growing up in the same town as Bill, I'm sure there are all sorts of things from birth until now they can use.

If they ever get Huckabee to release his sermons, it will probably be game, set and match.

I would not doubt they already have access to them. Again, I'm sure with the connections they have still in AR that the tape library at his old church has access by certain friends of Bill or formally put - Friends of Bill.

I was listening to a radio interview of the editor of the Arkansas Times. He said that while in office, Huckabee used his staff to use FOI requests to round up all of his files and then either destroyed them or prevented access to them. He's also reported to have destroyed the hard drives in all of his administration's computers as he left office.

I've heard the same rumors of him sanitizing things. One does not do that unless there is something to hide. And the rule is that something is always kept tucked away for leverage on the person doing the ordering. Someone also slips up in that process as well.

It wasn't horrible but if he doesn't hit a homerun then there is no point in showing up. I question why McCain showed up in IA as well. Telling them he's against corn subsidies is pretty much his death in that state. But he was right. How can conservatives truly be for those subsidies?

Honestly that debate was a snooze fest. No movement among the candidates.
