I was just wandering how and the heck the same players always end up in the NBA all star game? I am not much into the NBA but always keep a watchful eye open for things like the ALL-Star game. I just dont see how people like Steve Nash can get overlooked on the All-Star ballot. The one I am most concerned about is SHAQ. The dude has missed close to 40 games now, but yet he is going to the All-Star game???!!! Am I the only one who sees a problem with this?

The all-star voting each year in the NBA sucks, the game is a joke. Shaq and Yao are the starting centers, Steve Nash finished fourth in voting for guards in the Western Conference. That tells you all you need to know about the credibility of the all-star game.

I was just making sure I was not the only one. It seems like every year its the same old people in the game. They defiently need to come up with a new system for voting in players...get some fresh faces blended in with those who DESERVE to be there...not just the sentimental favorites like SHAQ.

Didn't Gilbert Arenas barely get in? I'm sorry, but that man is one of the ballinest guys in the NBA, and easily the second best player in the East next to LeBron.

Two questions.

1) Where would you rate Dwyane Wade?

2) Where did you rate Dwyane Wade before he murdered Dallas in the Finals?

I'm a big Shaq fan, and I agree he shouldn't be on the team, much less a starter, but I just meant that's how it'll always be with the fan vote, not that there should be a fan vote.

Is the Yao Ming novelty wearing off in China or what? LeBron outvoted him this year...

Well, as far as this season goes, they're practically identical stats-wise. Wade does it on a team that may very well win the east with ease, once again, while Arenas does it on a borderline playoff team in the east. Read: A pretty bad team.

Standings
Wizards 24-17
Heat 19-23

The Wizards are currently second in the East while the Heat wouldn't even be in the playoffs if they started today. Washington gave Cleveland all they wanted in the playoffs last season... but, I'm sure that was all Arenas while Wade's team and the officials carried him to a championship.

As far as stats this season, Wade is still a better shooter percentage wise, scores about 1 point less per game, averages more assists, rebounds, and steals than Arenas on a team ravaged with injuries. If Wade misses substantial time this season, the Heat might not have 5 wins.

Are the NBA standings not printed in the Oregonian? By the way, I will see the Blazers live tomorrow night. That is an interesting young team.

Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison are both better than any teammate Wade has.

Not much faith in the AARP squad?

BTW, making it out to Memphis? Yeah, Blazers are still finding their identity post-Jail Blazers era. The development is very sporadic, they've had one decent stretch this season, and may be on another. They just demolished Cleveland and nearly clipped Phoenix.

The Heat do not have the motivation they did last year. All of those veterans who were chasing a ring reached their goal. I would not be one bit surprised if the young guys from Cleveland or Chicago topple Detroit and Miami and win the East.

I agree, with the fans voting your going to have pathetic all stars who don't deserve to be all stars. that's what you get when u let 8-13 year olds vote. steve nash is the best pt guard in the game, i'd still take Wade over Arenas, but Arenas would be my next pick. Shaq has missed pretty much the entire season, and how long has it been since Yao last played? He's out w/ a broken knee cap or leg. I remember when the all star game was something good for ex. jordan/magic/bird/thomas era, now its just garbage

I will give you Chicago if they make a blockbuster deal like people think they will pretty soon here. I know the East has some up and coming teams, but I don't think any of them are that good.

Well, the reason Yao and McGrady are in there is entirely from Chinese votes.

Especially if they trade for Garnett or Gasol, eh? How much/who do you think they'd have to give up to pull off a trade for one of those guys?
