im puttin almost all my eggs in that basket... he just seems like he would bet against Tim Duncan and the Spurs lol, thats why he threw Duncan out that one game for nothing, somebody probably bet him he wouldnt throw Duncan out and then challenge him for a fight

Steve Nash jokingly asked whether Donaghy worked that game when asked about the story. He was not officiating then, but he did work the brawl in Detroit and was involved in an off the court altercation with Rasheed Wallace which resulted in Wallace being suspended (not that those incidents are related to the gambling.)

This is the worst thing ever happen to NBA. We know that on the basketball court, the controversial calls are everywhere. I think in NBA, about 10% (maybe?) calls are controversial or even obviously wrong. It's inevitable, and we didn't take it personally. But after this incident, it's very easy for us to start to look into referee's integrity.

I don't think so.I am not saying fighting is good, but fight like a man is totally understandable, and I don't particularly detest any player involving in the fighting except Stephen Jackson. On the other hand, referees manipulating game is unforgivable. They are supposed to be authorities on the court, and no one can challenge those people. Right now, they cheat on the court because of their own interests, Players and fans all become the victims of their cheating. I am not cool with that.

I listened to David Stern's press conference today. A couple of thoughts:

1. It is a good move to get out in front of the press and meet this issue head on. Gutsy, honest move by Stern.

2. They have a very good system in theory to police the officials, from background checks to financial records to on-court evaluations. The problem is the good theoretical system failed miserably. The world's best system isn't worth a dime if all you expect it to do is continually tell you that everything is fine.

The integrity of the game...yadda, yadda, yadda. People flock to wrestling knowing full well that it's rigged. People pay money to watch NBA players do freakishly athletic things and the NBA has fostered that with its monkeyed up basketball rules. Clearly the appearance of any authority on the basketball court has been gone for years and ain't coming back. Crooked refs have been around forever. As long as people believe that the NBA is actively trying to fight cheating, they're OK. Sanctioned cheating, people would begin to walk away.
