One of Tennessee's linebacker targets is planning to take a closer look at the Vols next month. Class of 2022 linebacker
Daejuan Thompson of Whiteville (N.C.) High School told GoVols247 on Wednesday that he's
scheduled to travel to Knoxville on June 17 to participate in one of Tennessee's camps.
The Vols gave the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Thompson his first SEC scholarship offer on April 14. But he said he still decided that he wanted to work with first-year Tennessee coach Josh Heupel's staff during one of the Vols' camps rather than simply visiting UT's campus.
"I wanted to see how it was being coached by them," said Thompson, who's ranked by 247Sports as the No. 67 outside linebacker in the 2022 class and the No. 27 junior from the state of North Carolina.
Thompson said he's talking with Tennessee's coaches "at least twice a week," led by linebackers coach
Brian Jean-Mary.
