Fair enough. It supports your position. Re-ranking kids feels a little bit like revisionist history, though. Conversely, we have a handful of kids who were 4* high schoolers that would be 3* transfers if they left, today.McCoy was a 90 four star transfer. Brazzell was a 91 four star transfer so I'm not counting them since we recruited them and they counted as four stars to our class
I mean, they're recruits again at that point and they're being graded off a body of work.. Should we stop ranking JuCo kids since they were either low 3's or unranked in high school? As long as it's fair I don't see the problem, and as you said there's plenty of 4* kids that transfer and become 3* guys because they didn't play or sucked it up when they did.Fair enough. Ranking JUCO kids in an attempt to project NCAA D1 success isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison to re-ranking NCAA D1 athletes who have already had an opportunity to make an impact at the level you're attempting to project.I mean, they're recruits again at that point and they're being graded off a body of work.. I get what you're saying but Tennessee recruited them when they were labeled 4* stars as my point not when they were coming out of high school. For what it's worth my point was the majority of our team that's playing is 4 and 5 star kids too. It's not like we're running 1 5* a few 4*'s and the rest 3* kids we recruited. Talent wise there isn't a major talent gap anymore. We have two five stars that play ST in Matthews and Ross lol. I do think this kid House is criminally underrated though.Ranking JUCO kids in an attempt to project NCAA D1 success isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison to re-ranking NCAA D1 athletes who have already had an opportunity to make an impact at the level you're attempting to project.
There are a few rare exceptions where guys go D1, drop down to JUCO, then go back D1.
I'm just saying it may not be fair to use a preliminary standard of rankings (high school) to make your initial point, and then use a secondary set of rankings that were created with the benefit of having seen the kids at the D1 level to refute the counterpoint.
If you don't want to count them on account of their transfer ranking, that's fine.
Idk the defense will return a lot. I think they will be able to get a notable name up front since you’re guaranteed a lot of playing time no matter what if you’re good. Then you still got hopefully West, Hobbs, Moi, potentially Bailey, Jenkins and a strong class coming in to add on to any portal names. Then edge maybe you get someone too to cash in on hopefully what will be an improved strong year from Nico leading the team but you still have Josephs, Herring, Ross. Need some depth and LB but the secondary and starting LBs remain intactDefense might take a bit of a step back.
The offense should be strong again by next season.
we lose Perry at LB? Jalen smith is obviously a freshman, but getting valuable snaps. LB might be fine, but would expect one transfer. Another year of safety being a weird spot. Would expect one LB, one DB, 2 DL/Edge out of portal.Idk the defense will return a lot.
