'25 NC OT David Sanders (Tennessee commit)

I will tackle this one, It really stands out.

SEC Towns From the Most Populated to the Least Populated, with the Populations in Parentheses.

1) Austin, Texas (974,447)
2) Nashville, Tennessee (692,587)
3) Lexington, Kentucky (320,347)
4) Baton Rouge, Louisiana (221,453)
5) Knoxville, Tennessee (195,889)
6) Gainesville, Florida (145,214)
7) Columbia, South Carolina (139,698)
8) Norman, Oklahoma (129,627)
9) Athens, Georgia (128,561)
10) Columbia, Missouri (128,555)
11) College Station, Texas (124,319)
12) Tuscaloosa, Alabama (110,602)
13) Fayetteville, Arkansas (99,285)
14) Auburn, Alabama (80,006)
15) Oxford, Mississippi (26,437)
16) Starkville, Mississippi (24,168)

Knoxville also has two major interstates, I-40 and I-75, running through it, and McGhee-Tyson is a decent airport, which is located only 20 miles south of the UT campus. If that constitutes remote .... What do you call Auburn, Alabama?
You need to count county or metro population. Knoxville would be a solid 3rd on that list.

If accounting for Metro Statistical Area:

Greater Austin - Wikipedia (2,473,275)
Nashville metropolitan area - Wikipedia (2,102,573)
Oklahoma City metropolitan area - Wikipedia (1,477,926)
(946,264)
Baton Rouge metropolitan area - Wikipedia (873,661)
Columbia metropolitan area, South Carolina - Wikipedia (858,302)
Northwest Arkansas - Wikipedia (590,337)
Lexington–Fayette–Richmond–Frankfort combined statistical area - Wikipedia (520,045)
Gainesville-Lake City, FL CSA - Wikipedia (352,126)
Columbus–Auburn–Opelika combined statistical area - Wikipedia (323,768)
College Station–Bryan - Wikipedia (281,445)
Tuscaloosa, Alabama metropolitan area - Wikipedia (278,290)
Columbia metropolitan area (Missouri) - Wikipedia (216,511)
Oxford, Mississippi (26,437 - no MSA)
Starkville, Mississippi (24,168 - no MSA)

>> Columbus metropolitan area, Ohio - Wikipedia (2,138,926)

some of those MSAs are grossly overexaggerated but it still explains that the Ohio fans don't really know anything about the "remote" towns of the south.

Proximity matters:

“They were willing to pay David Sanders, from my understanding, more money than the rest of the offensive line currently makes. Or close to it. This was not a money issue. This was a closer to home issue."

Even with one of their own insiders reporting this they don't believe him. On ElevenWarriors they are saying that Birm (OSO insider) is "overplaying the distance factor". "No way that it didn't come down to NIL".

My favorite: the only thing Tennessee could develop better than OSU "was his bank account and his real estate options".

Wow.

Alabama is a real program because when we flipped Harmon, they were salty but were real about it. The amount of OSU copium is unreal. Poverty fanbase.

By any standard, Ohio State's forum "Eleven Warriors" is overflowing with haughty smugness. I remember browsing it on "Schiano Sunday" to get their take since Schiano was an assistant ... and I still remember one post that said :

"It seems like he (Schiano) could do better (than Tennessee).

I was so blown away by that .... I still remember it over 6 years later.

FWIW, Ohio State is 2-10 vs the SEC over the last 30 college football seasons (1994-2023).

I really wish they had won that next to last one. The one time that season I was actually pulling for them, and they whizz down their leg as the clock strikes midnight. Ruined my New Year’s Eve. 😆

Yeah .... I cheered for them that night too. That was a great game.

One thing I remember from our Citrus Bowl game with them from New Year's Day in 1996 ..... someone on their training staff came into our locker room after the game and stole a shoe so they could measure the length of our cleats. They whined like babies over it. Unreal. They had the Heisman Trophy winner (Eddie George), the Biletnikoff Award winner (Terry Glenn) and a future Outland Trophy winner (Orlando Pace) .... but wanted to whine about cleats.

They know just how to bend over when their “rival” comes to town as well.

Ok to be fair, Ohio State OWNED Meatchicken for like a decade prior to the recent streak, which is part of why these OSU fans are so up in arms. I imagine Bama fans will react similarly if/when we start a new streak on them.

To be even more fair when Day has coached against anyone with even close to equal talent he’s lost. He’s a hell of a recruiter and he beats the hell out of cupcakes.

It’ll be interesting to see if he gets out of the way and lets Kelly run the offense. Bringing in Knowles to improve their defense made a dramatic difference. If something similar were to happen on the other side of the ball, they’ll be tough to beat.

Still not sure they have a QB though.

Oh no doubt if they get a head coach it would be hard to beat them. They have all the talent to be successful. It’s astounding that they haven’t won many big games with Day there though. They should have at least one national title at this point.

I’d love it if they made the playoff this year and we did too, and met in a first round game. Mostly because I wanna see us make it 2-0 against them, but also because OSU coming to Neyland or the Big Orange visiting the Shoe would be an awesome spectacle.

Halftime: Providence Day 7, Weddington 7

Both defenses living up to the hype. Sanders has two QB pressures, Harrison has a QB pressure, Delaney has a sack, Aiden Harris has a sack. Weddington has been patient controlling the clock, but has had some penalties. Gordon Sellars out of the game after taking a hard hit.
