Stanford softball star pitcher NiJaree Canady has announced that she is transferring to Texas Tech.

From a Stanford site that clearly was looking to say something practically saying she only left for a bag. Things like that makes you wonder if they just ran with a loose rumor

Fwiw I don’t blame them for making an investment on the best player in the sport. Softball usually comes down to who has the best pitcher and is generally easier to build up a contender if you can get a stud ace

The saving grace is that the OSU fanbase, in my experience, has a much higher proportion of casuals than we do. Most Bucks fans I encounter couldn’t tell you a single committed recruit they have.

To be fair most programs think they have rabid fan bases until they meet people that are fans of southern programs. We have our fair share of filthy casual bandwagoners but for the most part football in the south is about as serious as it gets.

It has been reported numerous places…. sporting news… espn… etc… The only point is that if they are willing to pay that much for a non-revenue sport… its not out of the realm of possibility for someone to offer a tackle 2 mill in a sport that makes millions.
