'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

Reggie Grimes wasn't a total bust but no earth mover.

Curtis is listed as #1player in the class, so maybe a few might care.
he isn't #1 on any service. ESPN has him at #2, On3 @ #3, Rivals #4, 247 #7. Faizon isn't chopped liver in those rankings.
247 has Faizon as #1, Rivals @ #2, ESPN #6, On3 is the outlier at #34.

So Brandon leads an undefeated Grimsley to an undefeated season and state championship in the toughest division in NC. Has a really good year despite being pulled early in some games and drops in the rankings. Makes perfect sense. Every year.
Don’t know what you mean. Rankings are exact scientific measurements of a player’s skill set. Clearly he got less good.

Not what I meant at all. This is just another example of what goes on with our recruiting every year. We always get disrespected with a few recruits. If Brandon would have committed to UGA, OSU or Bama, he would easily be the #1 QB and an overall 5* on every service.

Hey guys, wanted to drop by and explain where we’re at with Faizon Brandon. Honestly, not a ton has changed with how he stacks up within the QB group and class overall since October. Brandon had a very efficient year with Grimsley winning the state title, so I completely understand the questions.

After watching all of his games and pass attempts from the season, we still like his physical skill set. What he showed as a distributor while taking care of the football is a positive. Despite the team success and efficiency when targeting the short area of the field, we want to see more of the high-level individual plays that we typically see from 5-star quarterbacks. Even then, Faizon is still QB3 and ahead of other quarterbacks who had equally or more productive seasons. This QB cycle nationally doesn’t appear to be as loaded at the top as in 2025, so things are still relatively open at this early juncture. We still like his talent and look forward to seeing him in action this off-season and then of course tracking his progress as a senior.
There's a lot of different rankings to track between the Industry Rankings, ours, and other services, so I totally get how things could get crossed up.

For full transparency, Brandon debuted at No. 12 in our first On300 a year ago. He was No. 28 overall and the No. 3 QB in the update prior to this one with a 93 rating. In this update he's No. 34 overall, still the No. 3 QB, and maintained the 93 rating.
Jared Curtis isn't without questions as a prospect and we're pretty upfront about that. His junior film is really good. He looks like the top arm talent in the cycle at this stage and was the best prospect at the UA Nashville camp last year, which I wrote about at the time. Curtis will be 19 as a freshman in college and the competition isn't great. We really like the arm talent, big frame, and playmaking ability. He had the most high level throws on film of any 2026 QB as a junior and it's probably not close. He also made some big strides as a junior, which is good to see. Long way to go in the cycle though, and the QB order and overall rankings are far from settled.
not at all. Dia Bell is committed and has gone up after showing a bunch of progress as a junior. Zion Elee is committed to Maryland and is still the #1 prospect after saying his recruitment is closed. Whether or not a prospect is committed or where they're committed isn't a factor in our rankings. If there's movement, it's based on what we see on film or in person.
13 players moved into the top 30, so there were a bunch of risers towards the top of the ranking. With the upward movement of so many others, he just moved down 6 total spots.

Sounds like this staff is getting stuffed in a locker to me. We are never going to compete with teams like Bama and Georgia if our commits keep losing ground in the rankings over the offseason...
