'19 NC RB Quavaris Crouch (Tennessee signee)

No one should really be expecting much here, but the fact that the no.1 and no.2 players in the country have visited more than once is a significant development. I don't think we were getting those looks (or second looks, anyway) under Jones.

Trey Smith says hey

Agreed. No one thinks UT is much of a player outside of this board the UT slanted recruiting sites trying to sell clicks.

While we may not get him... how are they slanting anything? Kid has visited multiple times since Pruitt hire. I'd say he is def hearing us out pretty strongly

Trey Smith was in instate recruit with a sister who worked for the program. You understand there is a difference right?

Cam Akers ring a bell?

Let’s not try and act like we haven’t been bringing in top players to visit under Butch. We’re fishing in the same waters we have been

Not even sure waters are totally the same. By most accounts Pruitt and Co. are out west more, and just less Tennessee-centric in general than Jones’ staff was.

Cam Akers was once the No 1 and No 2 player in the country at the same time? That's a hell of a feat. Also did Akers ever come on his own dime or did he just official?

I know one of his coaches and he's said how good this kid is, not as a player, but as a person. When I asked him after they won the state championship this year if Crouch was set on a school, he said, "I don't even think he's thinking about that, he's focused on just getting better". That, plus updates on his visit just tell me the kid is enjoying himself and seeing what's best for him.

Like any team specific site, just feel like they make it sound a bit better. I hope we get him, but visits or not we are running about 3rd or 4th at best. Charlotte is also 4 hours away from Knoxville so geographically it’s not a huge feat.

Would love to see Pru turn him into a big time Jack or OLb, but just believe this board is getting a little overzealous.

the vols have clearly made moves with both crouch and wright. The nation’s no. 1 overall prospect has continued to build on his relationships with pruitt and dc kevin sherrer, but his latest visit also gave him the opportunity to meet oc tyson helton and spend time with his area recruiter, brian niedermeyer. Crouch knows he’s wanted badly at tennessee, but more importantly, he sees himself as a fit with the new regime. While crouch hasn’t made a final decision about his position in college, he noted that tennessee plans on using him as an explosive outside linebacker with a special package as a running back.

I don't see him not coming away super stoked as a bad thing. He has been here multiple times, its not his first trip so he has seen everything. as long as he is continuing to find positive things and keeps coming back its a win.

Where did this notion that he wasn't super stoked come from? He seems to like us quite a bit and enjoys each visit more

get the best players on the field. period. and to boot, that just increases his opportunity to play earlier.

if this staff is going to turn this program around, it's going to have to get kids like this.

i think it's safe to say there's some real positive vibes out there with some of these highly rated players.

would love to see a couple pull the trigger.....:)

Right. He stayed an extra unplanned day. That says more about his interests than any quote.

Oh nevermind then....

:p

it sucks too, because the day he went off and had his big day as PR was against OSU, last game of hte season.

meanwhile, Peyton was setting records throwing for 500+ yards and however many TD's against KY, on the jefferson pilot regional broadcast.

on what stood out to crouch about tennessee: "the atmosphere up there. I have a really good relationship with coach (jeremy) pruitt, coach (brian) niedermeyer, and the offensive coordinator (tyson helton). I really like talking to all of them. They're saying i can come in and help them on both sides of the ball."
