It's official. Herb Sendek took the Arizona State job. Will Bruce Pearl be in the running for this? Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm sure Pearl can't wait to go NC State....

NCSU fans just ran off a good coach for them...those fans cant accept the fact that they have to play third fiddle to UNC and Dook. NCSU does have 2 titles and tradition so they should attract a good coach.

Maybe Billy Donovan is interested in it.

Nah..his next step would be to an elite level program..but from the looks of it he's built a pretty good program in Gville.

I wasn't being serious. Congrats on your win today. You all lived by the 3 today.

If the State job had come open last year it would actually have been a perfect job for CBP. Good fan base, good recruiting opportunities, good place to be the underdog.

2 titles. One through the cheating of Norm Sloan, the other through Divine Intervention(as well as the incompetence of Guy V. Lewis). The NC State job is not a good one. Unrealistic expectations, coupled with having Duke and Carolina in your backyard, make it more trouble than it's worth. They'll be lucky to find someone as good as Sendek.

Absolutely agree. NC State has some tradition--but it is distant, and the best any wolfpack coach can hope for is to be 3rd or 4th best in the ACC. Unc and Duke are out of reach, let's face it, then you have Maryland (national champ a few years ago), not to mention georgia tech (title game two years ago) and a host of other conference teams. The acc is brutal. I thought Sendek did a good job--the wolfpack have had some better-than-decent teams. I'll be surprised if their next coach does better. They've just been eclipsed by the two monster programs in chapel hill and durham.

still, they're will be a coach that will find this job awfully inticing and want to take a shot at making nc state a power house in the acc. Im sure they will get a big name coach, Im just not sure who nor do I care.

Are we going to have this type post everytime a coaching position comes open?
Thank Goodness we have a coach that someone wants! When was the last time our football coach was rumored going anywhere. :banghead:

It's looking to me like Donovan has developed an elite level program. The UF fans love him, apparently recruits do too.

No way Bruce is leaving us for a while. He definitely wouldn't be going to NC state.

I don't think we have much to worry about, at least as far as this opening is concerned. I'm sure NCSU fans would love it, but i think CBP has enough of a challenge in this conference and division with UF and UK to go against.....why would he want to give that up when NCSU has gone to the tourney for like 5-6 years in a row and the fans/supportes still are not happy?

talk about expectations being wrong....NCSU's biggest problem is proximity to UNC and Duke. I think it's realistic to want a split wiht them every couple of years, but if they're looking to go heat to head with either of them for ACC championships, ACC tourny championships, final fours or NC's, they are mistaken.

It would be like UK saying they are a good coaching job because they play against UGA, UT and UF every year, so they should be in the same category....it just doesn't make sense....

Plus, the name i'm hearing here in Charlotte is John Callipari. :snoring:

Not unless State wants to pay NBA type money, and that probably wouldn't be enough.

I agree....I don't know if Lee Fowler is going to come off the hip for that kind of $$$$$. But at this point, given the status of that bball program, it's fickle fan base and local, it's probably going to take that type of money.....

i understand coaches wanting a challenge. but to plant yourself in between Row and Coach K, well, you asking for trouble. It's a bad situation if you ask me.

your spelling has outdistanced the ability to still make some of your posts sound coherent. I do miss your early days! :D

I dont want him to go at all. He is a perfect fit at UT. Pack fans will scrutinize everything about him. I dont think this is an easy crwd to please. . Fans here in this area are very keen of him. Fowler is willing to spend 1.6- 1.8 million on the next coach. I just hope BP gets some incentive to stay.
