Browder transferred from Kingsport's Dobyns-Bennett High School to Christ School in Arden, N.C., for his senior year of high school. He was ranked the No. 61 tight end and No. 49 player from the state of North Carolina in the 2021 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
Tennessee didn't sign a Class of 2022 tight end last month during the Early Signing Period after parting ways with longtime commitment
Brody Foley of Anderson High School in Cincinnati. The 6-foot-5.5, 236-pound Foley, who's ranked the No. 26 tight end in the 247Sports Composite for the 2022 class, signed with Indiana last month.
Browder, who arrived at UCF in January 2021 as an early enrollee, appeared in four games this season as a true freshman for the Knights under first-year coach
Gus Malzahn. But he didn't record any statistics in his four appearances, while redshirt junior tight end Alec Holler — who finished with 19 receptions for 192 yards and three touchdowns — was UCF's only tight end who caught a pass this season.
Since he didn't play in more than four games, he's expected to receive a redshirt for the 2021 season. Browder wrote in a note announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal that he will have "all 4 years of eligibility remaining."
He announced his decision to add his name to the transfer portal in a tweet on Dec. 29.
