Recently my wife went back to college at our local community college. She had to do a report on any subject she choses. Her paper was titled, Living with A Vols Fan. She noted all the usual traits of a vols fan such as how curteous they are in traffic, when they notice the UT tag on front or the power T magnet on back of the car, strangers coming up and starting conversations like they have know you for years just because of the UT shirt or hat your wearing. She noted how friendly fans get when they are in a bar watching a UT game on TV and how load they get, wether they win or lose, also how during the game our lives depend on every play of the game. She once got out of a speeding ticket because she told the officer she was in a hurry to get home to see the vols play, he was a fan also, she wasnt so lucky when a georgia trooper pulled her over in atlanta. Anyway the story went on and on. She said the teacher looked at her funny after she read the report. The next day, she returned, half the students were wearing Tenneessee orange, shirts, hats sweaters and such, even the teacher. He bragged on her paper to everyone, he returned her paper and she noticed he had given her an A- . She asked why an A-? he said because she was wearing a carolina tarheel shirt when she was reading the report.
UT fans are a tight family, even here in tarheel country.:peace2:

You in Western Carolina or Eastern Carolina?

I'm in Eastern and I would love to see a classroom full of Orange.

You see lots of UT tags, flags, shirts, etc in WNC. I may have a biased eye but it seems like more than the ACC stuff. Most of the UNC and NC State stuff you see is for basketball. The Vols have always recruited in the western part (Pickens, Shuler, Bryson, Crompton to name a few) while the ACC schools don't give us much love. Tennessee is OUR university, too.

Great story but get her some Orange to replace that UNC shirt! lol I see several UT fans here in central Indiana. Not sure if it's because of Peyton or what? I know there is another poster on here that is from my area...it truely is a VOL NATION!

its kinda funny when you talk about the hospitality of the vol fans. In 2004 i was in athens for the Georgia Southern/ Georgia game, and then again for the TN/GA game. When i was at the game i was sitting in the UGA student section, and this girl sitting next to me was wearing orange like me, so naturally we kinda stuck together. well 2 years later im engadged to that girl,,,,

Im here in Asheville, and it's Big Orange country

Just down the mountain from you, little place called Rutherford County. Its funny how you see georgia tags and flags when they win around here, but lately, they have all dissapeared. Wonder why? While true Vols fans fly the colors all year long. Almost like a marriage, for better or for worse.
