Saw the thread on De'Vinner and it made me think of Lyles and Oregon, on which the NCAA is to announce their decision today. I wonder how a negative ruling could affect their season (& our game with them).

Personally not expecting this to be a major event regarding sanctions, but the AA can be really weird at times. Should it be minor - will not hurt or help. If major and a bowl ban/no BCS is put in place - could help us.

More importantly I am glad this will address some of the slimey side of recruiting.

Front running program making money for the NCAA...no penalty that matters anyway. Move along, nothing to see here.

No bowl ban. 1 schollie lost in 2 years. 3 years probation. Chipster slapped with show-clause penalty.

Baby crap for what was done

Next time won't be so easy. Next time Oregon will be a repeat offender

I like it, because they will either mess up again and get a much bigger penalty, or clean up their act and start to lose a lot of talent to the SEC.

The show cause is retarded, hes an NFL coach now.

The show cause is like telling someone they are fired after they already quit. Kelly could feasibly stay 2 years in Philly and come right back to the college ranks if it doesn't work out.

The official visits being cut from 56 to 37 is going to hurt them. Means that they have to really trust their scouting as to who they are going to bring on campus.

They will just use "The Opening" as an unofficial "official visit" platform.

Even though they will not be able to be anywhere around The Opening or scout recruits there, they will be able to say, oh yeah by the way you can just "stop by" unofficially before you go home. :ermm:

They should say that if someone is either a head coach or assistant coach in the NFL, their show-cause clock doesn't move.

Seriously, what a non-punishment. A show-cause for a current NFL head coach.

Financially speaking, show cause penalties given to football coaches only seem to hurt the handful of assistants who can't get a pro job. At least under your system if they were relieved of their professional coaching positions they wouldn't be able to just jump right back into the college ranks. They just mandate no less than 5-years will be applied for any show cause or get rid of it completely. That would be decently long enough that any coach, such as Kelly, would still be caught in it if they flamed out after 3-4 pro seasons.

Not really. I believe in the past couple of years they averaged 41 official visits. It constrains them a bit but not much less than their average.
