I do enjoy college hoops but do not follow religiously. Having said that, how does the Top 25 rankings work?
Doesn't seem to be any more logical than the football rankings. The Big East has 9 ranked teams and the Big 10 6. Those 2 conferences hold 15 of the Top 25 spots. But, there are 6 ACC teams, 3 Pac 10 teams, 2 MWC teams, and 6 SEC teams that are unranked yet have records atleast equal to if not better than 5 or 6 of the ranked teams from the BE and B10. Especially when compared to Mich. State. Not to mention a small handful of non-majors such as Belmont that sports an excellent record. (Although I understand the logic there).

Depends on who they've beat and who've they lost to. Mich. State hasn't lost to any team outside the top 15, last I heard.

They lost to Penn State and sport a similar record to us but they do have a better SOS. If we have a big win tmrw we could get some votes toward getting back in top 25. It doesn't matter though we need to win the SEC.:clapping:

Rankings in college basketball mean hardly nothing. The best thing is to play a good Strength of Schedule and come away with quality wins or win your conference championship. You can be #1 in march and go home first round obviously.

Actually we have the #1 SOS in the country

There is always a bias in the voting in favor of the Big East and followed close behind by the Big Ten. Most of the media who vote are from that area of the country. My recollection is that the Big East was highly ranked last year, but didn't really do very well in the NCAA tourney when compared to the number of teams that got in.

Thanks I was wrong just glanced at their schedule compared to ours..but currently we are #1 and MSU is #4:hi:

I absolutely hate the argument that a team with a lot of losses only lost to good/ranked teams. All that tells me is they're not as good as those ranked teams doesn't mean they're good themselves because they beat up on awful teams.

If you're gonna rank a team with 5-6 losses we should be in over a Georgetown or MSU team because neither one has beaten the caliber teams we have.
