NCAA punishing a lot of basketball programs this week

Something tells me that the articles published after our hearing won't quite sound like that.

That was like a reading a three way love fest with ESPN, NCAA and Cal officials....thats why I posted. More proof to why ESPN hates us.

I wish the committee would tell Tennessee this.

Hammy thinking *I sure hope the AA thinks we've punished ourselves and our coach sufficienty so that no other penalties will be handed down
AA thinking *They're headed in the right direction. That's nice. Now, let's see: Coach cannot coach the team for a full year. No postseason play for two years. Are we forgetting anything?

We will not get a postseason ban. That would be ridiculously unfair.

The possibilities I see are 1) loss of scholarships, 2) long suspension for Pearl, and 3) show-cause penalty for Pearl.

I don't really think so, either, ukv. was just pointing out we don't know what the hell they are going to do.

You're right. We really don't. Whatever it is, I hope UT is treated fairly. I'm not quite sure exactly what result would get us there.

I wonder. If Pearl gets a show cause could he sue the SEC for their punishment since there was no NCAA hearing yet and it is not their usual way of handling these things? Could he sue the University for their highly unusual punishment that included a pay cut. I am not sure if that has ever been done before the NCAA findings come out. I don't want him gone but I doubt the NCAA will cross ESPN and their anti UT clan.

ESPN being an affiliate of Volnation because they make sooo much money from attaching their name to a Vol website - are anti-UT. That makess sense. If I were the admin, I'd have to shake my head at that one. For more than one reason.

I wish people would get a clue about Espn. They don't hate the Vols any more than they hate anyone else. Tennessee just provides them with material a lot, goes back on the administration. Get better people running the show and Espn will have less to talk about as far as Tennessee goes. It's not their fault Tennessee provides them with news worthy stuff all the time, more of a reflection of how things are poorly run here.
