I've been reading a lot of posts on the UNC boards about major schools (notably Fla. State) getting hosed for the NCAA in favor of smaller schools who won their tournaments, etc. I haven't noticed much of this on the Vol boards because maybe we're just so proud to be here.

I just wonder if the people who bitch about this every year ever stopped to think that in reality every division I team in the country with the exception of a few independents actually are in the big dance as soon as their conference tournaments start. All they gotta do to stay alive is win.

Fact: All the other bids to the NCAA's other than conference tournament winners are actually "mulligans". They're getting a second chance after a failure. The conference tournament winners don't get this gift.

As for all the hoopla about seeding.....forget who got it easy and who got it tough. Just be ready to play ANYBODY if your good enough to be there in the first place.

This from a longtime Tarheel basketball fan.

What I enjoy most about these 3 and a butt days (from selection Sunday night until the games start on Thursday) is all the controversy over seedings...then when the BCS is a little jacked up, everyone says there is no problem with March Madness. Heck, if people are this upset over a team that just might be in the top 30 in the nation (FSU/Michigan) not getting into the dance, then imagine how upset people would be in an 8 team playoff...it really would not fix a thing.
