Even though we seem to have faded since reaching the number 2 ranking and possible No. 1 seeding, expectations for our team in the NCAA tournament are still as high as they were early on. Even though we have dropped out of the top 10 and are looking at a 3 seed, alot of computer models are still predicting we get to the Final Four....Computers have liked us all season, and it looks like we are getting healthy at the right time. I am still optimistic!

Realistically, a Sweet 16 is probably the ceiling absent some major chaos in the bracket around you. Offense wins in March and we just aren't there on that side of the ball...

Open to revising opinion if I see something next 2 weeks

This team has been on a rollercoaster since the Texas win. So i don't have any expectations atp.

I do think it will take an offensive explosion from one or two guys to make out past the first weekend.

I always go with my heart, which tells me this team can go the distance as they beat Bama, Kansas, Texas, etc. My brain says our ceiling is sweet 16, and most likely a buzzer beater loss in round two against a team who gets hot during their conf tournament.

Edit- wins vs Arkansas & Auburn may change my opinion, as it’s been over a month since TN has won three consecutive games.

It’s frustrating. I just told my SC buddy today that UT could beat anyone in the country on any night, but you’ve got to be consistent to win the dance.

Ceiling is sweet 16, but we will lose in the 1st or second game, don't have the go 2 guy when we have to have a basket, hope i am wrong.

You gotta get healthy and you gotta put the ball thru the hoop... including reasonable free throw shooting.
That last item scares me as the opponents should get tougher and games get tighter as you move on in a tourney

If we can actually get healthy going into the tournament I got more faith in this team to make a real run. Health depending if full strength I think Final Four or Sweet 16. Not full strength Id say Sweet 16 2nd round. I am getting the feeling with all the obstacles this team has faced they are better prepared for the chaos the tournament is this team really has a chance to go deep.

At this time, I'm still calling a loss in the round of 32. I may change my mind by the time the brackets are set.

This team won't sniff a Final Four unfortunately. A #12 seed will have a better chance. I just hope we aren't a #5 seed. Too many weaknesses on offense.

With ZZ out, my expectation is one win in NCAAT then out, possibly win one game in SECT.

It's easy to get fired up and overcome an injury like that in a one game scenario but teams will game plan for it. They will pressure us from the moment we step off the bus. It's gonna be all hands on deck handling the ball. We have to stay in this new down hill attack mode. If we dribble too much at the top we will struggle and the ball will get stuck.

I am pretty pro-Barnes overall, but I gotta say, not at least giving Edwards a few minutes tonight to run the point once the game was well in hand when you know you're going to need him now whether you like it or not is a headscratcher for me.

I just don’t think he’s ready. He wasn’t highly recruited, and he needs time.

ZZ is a special player and is irreplaceable, but I wouldn't count us out. With ZZ out, it will mean JJJ handles the ball more and we can really hone in on our identity as a big and long team. Our strength, as we saw tonight, is inside. We look to outrebound and score alot of 2nd chance points. Not sure there is any team in the nation that can match up from a size perspective. Maybe the blue bloods, but that is also may be why they tend to do well in the tourney.

I like Barnes as well, but he should have force fed Edwards meaningful minutes in the nonconference slate to see if he could learn on the fly in games that were essentially guaranteed wins.

I agree that Barnes should still have played Edwards the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game at least since it was well in hand. It’s highly likely we will need him to step in for a couple of minutes at some point the rest of the way.

I don’t think we will see him. Think you will see Vescovi playing 36+ minutes a night and Key running point when he needs a breather.
