Tough game not going to win this one with the press going to have to win it with half court defense and rebounding. I just don't see us turning them over 24 times so rebounding becomes important. I expect it to be a two or three possession game one way or the other. I don't expect us to get the open looks from the three that we got with South Florida I expect them to strongly contest our three point shooters. They average 78 a game I would be comfortable to holding them to that if we even come close to gaining a ten shot advantage and manage to shoot 45 percent from the field.

Finally the foul line we didn't get there much against SF we didn't have to making 16 threes. This game could totally come down to free throws like our last two losses where we lost big there.

Pretty nervous about this game. I concur with your analysis on the USF game thread. It appears that CKC is going to ride her high press approach and hope that fresher legs will make it effective in the tournament. It worked fine against overmatched USF, particularly once their 6 player rotation began to wilt. But, even they broke our press a fair number of times for easy shots or their guard Dembele often faced no ball pressure once she got past the first level of the press. These breakdowns were glossed over by the LVs shooting well from three and generating a lot of TOs. OSU will be able to guard the three point line much more tightly; they have size in the middle and the skilled athletes to again handle the LVs pressure. And on OSU's home court to boot. The LVs will need to be very A-game sharp tomorrow to move on.

I’m not going to complicate it and act like Tennessee has to do something they haven’t already done this season to beat Ohio State.
👉Tennessee has beaten really good teams that made the NCAA tourney in South Florida (who beat Duke this year), Richmond (who just blew out a Georgia Tech team that was ranked most of the season), Liberty (who should’ve beat Kentucky yesterday but fell short 78-79), Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida State, Iowa, and UConn with 23 wins and counting currently in year 1👈.
Talaysia Cooper and Lazaria Spearman can take over this game.. Whitehorn, Boyd, and Latham as a trio give us all the athleticism and intangibles we need to compete with any team. Hollingshead and Darby play their roles. The difference has been when Spencer and Spear give us consistent scoring. Those are the keys to victory. Tennessee is the better team with a better resume.

Playing a true away game against a capable team that'll have a home crowd advantage. Imperative that Tennessee doesn't dig itself into one of those "10 point quarter" holes in the first half. Shooting 40% for the game wouldn't hurt either. Or perhaps, more accurately, shooting no worse than the opponent wouldn't hurt. If they're at or near the same percentage then the volume of shots will help. Just don't want to see one of those "12 point to 24 point" quarters that puts UT in the hole.

Granted, these are easy observations to make, but for Tennessee, they feel especially pertinent. Good Tennessee can win this one going away. Not-as-good Tennessee has had to claw its way back from large deficits early. Hope we see good Tennessee tomorrow.

Before our last game, I was fairly pessimistic about the potential matchup with Ohio State. I don't want to read much into our victory, but I think that along with the reports of how good practices had been all week lead me to believe that this team may be in a better place than it has for weeks. Our game against USF was not perfect but certainly more impressive than the one played by OSU. Just a think of all the criticism of our team if we were Ohio State still in a close game at home at halftime against an even worse seed than USF. I also think it wasn't just the press and 3-point shooting, but the teamwork and only having 6 turnovers with none by Cooper suggesting that we may truly be refreshed. That said, I agree that we will not replicate any of our great numbers against USF as OSU is really good. However, as long as we don't revert back to our end of the season play and don't lose the turnover battle, I think it will be a nail biter.

I suspect Kevin McGuff wishes his team had been matched with any of the other 5 seeds other than Tennessee. Well, maybe not Ole Miss.

Anyway, even though they're favored on their home court, and are very much used to pressure defense (playing/pressing in it themselves), it still doesn't seem to me to be an appealing matchup for the Buckeyes.

If we shoot poorly I think we have a very high chance of losing, but if we shoot lights out, I don't see us winning by more than 8 on the road. Hope we do shoot lights out and I'm wrong and we whoop dat azz. lol

GO LADY VOLS!

kim should run the same press the men are running in tonight’s game. I concur with the press being beaten numerous times by Dembele we can’t afford that tomorrow night. The press doesn’t need to happen when she has jewel, Sara, and Jill trapping the front court. We get beat every time

Agree, the half court press Barnes used last night turned that game around. And they didn't get beat on the backside because they were able to get back into position quicker once UCLA got the ball over half court line.

Completely different strategies, CKC is not going to be doing that.

Why be nervous? We are not projected to win as a 5 seed. If we do, more power to us.

Kim needs to stay in the refs grill! Make sure
We are not homered!!! Maybe even get a tech fighting for her players, something Kellie never did. Establishing herself as a big time coach for a big not program!!

You weren’t asking me, but the reason I’m nervous is the same reason I’m nervous EVERY season for the NCAAT. I spend the entire time from the previous season’s final game anxiously waiting for the next season. Then I’m excited for the news of how pre-season practices are going., And then I’m beside myself when the first exhibition game day arrives. Then the exciting out-of-conference portion of the schedule gives me hope for post-season. And then the SEC slate gives me hope and fear AND sadness that another season is quickly passing. By the time the NCAAT gets here there are SOOOO many hopes and dreams and memories and emotions that can, and all but only 8 times ever for me, end brutally abruptly. It’s the looming fear of the anti-climactic ending after a full year of anticipation that makes me nervous. I hate it that I feel that way and wish I didn’t,

I would like to see the LV's change up the full court press at least part of the time to a 1-2-2 3/4 court press .My fear against OSU is that they will break the press easily and score beacoup points at the rim .
