They're capable, but not this year. The venues for the NCAA tournament are granted years in advance.

Knoxville can't host. They've been told they don't have enough hotels

Is that a new thing? They did years ago. Purdue, Duke, Kansas, and Marquette. I was in school, so it had to be 10+ years ago.

They put in a bid for 2012 I believe. Tennessee couldnt be slotted to play there with the new rules which is going to shaft Syracuse. As a 1 seed the regional is in Syracuse and they cant be sent there because of being on home court so they going to be shipped off to one of the others. Now I would want one in nashville or something since its not a home game we could get slotted there.

Saw St. Johns with Ron Artest play Ohio State with Scoonie Penn and Michael Redd in the Sweet Sixteen at TBA in '98 or '99 I think. Awesome game.

I'd be suprised if we ever see Knoxville or Nashville host a regional final again. The NCAA has trended recently towards having those in football stadiums just like the final four. But I wouldn't think hosting first and second round games would be out of the question, that would be more fun anyway since there would be 6 games to go see.

Unless this restriction has been handed out recently, they can and have hosted.

I attended one of the best NCAA games I've ever witnessed at TBA.

1994 Purdue vs Duke.

Of course, that was 16 years ago.
