NCAA votes to reduce transfer window from 60 days to 45 days in all sports, eliminate 25-player cap, and ban photo shoots on unofficial visits

I would rather see them limit how many total transfers a school can take in a given academic year. I think even like 25 would be a huge difference. Lets a new coach bring in a whole class of hand picked players to turn around a program. but keeps schools from whole sale firing their current team.

or maybe combine a cap with high schoolers too. you can take up to 25 high schoolers, and up to 50 total scholarship players an academic year.

That ban on photo shoots will really improve things. I can't tell you how many times I have thought photo shoots on unofficial visits were ruining college football.
Definitely gives the team an unfair advantage on the field of play. Do you know how much of a benefit it is to know what you will look like on live TV while you play in a certain uniform? Huge, huge advantage, that not every school can use. Probably cuts down on INTs and Florida blocking their own players.

Haven't seen this discussed. No more 25 player cap per class.

The council voted to eliminate the annual limit on initial counters in both FBS and FCS (previously 25 and 30 per year, respectively, per program). Limits on initial counters had been suspended by the council in 2021 as a result of uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the one-time transfer exception.

So, now a coach could leave and bring his whole roster to a new school? Sounds crazy, but I could see it happening.

Really sad in a way - a player could have their scholarship jerked from under them at any time. If you turn over a team by letting those already there go, you are impacting their future.

If I'm on an academic scholarship and don't maintain a certain GPA, I would risk losing my scholarship. Same goes for players who don't play up to snuff. If they are good, a new coach will keep them around... or they'll have no problems finding a new school.

It is becoming the equivalent of a "job" verses the ideal of offering an opportunity to a person to better themselves via an education. Most of the athletes will not become professionals. At some point they may as well disconnect the association to the university. I donate to support the student athlete at the university that through the education I obtained gave me the opportunities I had in my career.
