NCAA Wants Apology From Kentucky

Just heard this on the radio. UNBELIEVABLE. The kicker is that if they don't issue the statement, they have to appear before the COI later this year. I hate Kentucky and Cal, but this crap is out of hand. SCREW the NCAA.

Forget that. And I'm not playing favorites here, I could care less about Cal; those wins were vacated, and he plain ain't at 500. That's what happens when you cheat and get caught, deal with the freaking consequences!

I don't see how anyone could not share this view on the matter. It's not applied science. It's simple 3rd grade math. 500 minus the vacated victories = NOT 500.

Not my point, and I don't even disagree about dealing with consequences, because he should. The NCAA however should not have jurisdiction over whether or not a school chooses to honor its coach, and in what manner. The notion is asinine, and if this truly falls under the purview of the NCAA, then the member institutions should take a long hard look at the power they have given the NCAA.

We aren't talking about record books and the annals of history here. Everyone knows he's cheater and history will have documented proof of it. This was a glorified pep rally.

If I were in charge of the 'AA, I would at least have issued a statement to the media, something to the tune of "LOLz @ Coach Cal, dude might as well be celebrating win #1million. Would be equally fictitious."

I totally agree, and that should have ended the matter. I just personally have a problem with them wasting the time and resources, and threatening a hearing over something like this. Issue a statement and get back to the "real issues".

Dickie v and ESPN didn't care. Dickie v even brought it up and said, "500 is 500 baby".

Seems like a petty thing to worry about given the landscape of collegiate athletics right now.

Maybe they could also add, "However, we would like to congratulate him on making his first Final Four last year."

Now that would be funny. They would move up significantly in my book for that.

Kind of like how Pete Caroll didn't win a BCS championship and Reggie Bush didn't win the Heisman. Actions have consequences.

Well, the ap still lists USC as the 04 champs, and the AP is as legit as the bcs IMO. But, yeah.

The NCAA should be investigating other things instead of getting bent out of shape for a school recognizing its coach's accomplishments.
