NCAAs silly rules

A local university here in Abilene retired their mascot today. They are the McMurray Indians. The NCAA required them to completely drop the Indian mascot. First off this is going to cost this private university a bunch of money, uniforms, sinage etc.... My question is, why havent all the big schools like the seminoles, and the illini, dropped their connection to the native Americans.

In the case of FSU, the Seminole tribe threatened to sue the NCAA over this issue because they have a longstanding relationship with the university and consider the team mascot to be an honor to their tribe.

Illinois sidelined Chief Illiniwek... their mascot. I don't know why they aren't changing there name, but it's a great thing they boxed up the mascot costume, that guy made the tribe look like a bunch of retards.
