With all these teams looking to have new coach's in some fashion. What recruits do we have a shot at landing. I am assuming that we are pretty good at Defensive recruits so Strong leaving might not help till next year but wondering who else is out there that we might pick up some steam on? Thanks

Tommy Rees and that's about it imo. UC doesn't really have anyone we want anyway and I'm not sure Strong leaving will effect any of their commits.

The change is helping FSU much like it did UT a year ago.

Which is odd because FSU isn't really changing the face of the program, UT revamped everything.

Kelly to ND may not be good for UT and rees

It should help. Rees committed to a pro-style and Kelly runs the spread. The Lane Train should be able to convince him that he doesn't need to go anywhere near the spread.

The guys FSU is getting have loved the Noles their whole life. It isn't like they are stealing players like Kiffin did. These kids were just loking for some reason to go to FSU and found one...

Exactly. FSU will continue to get good players and still probably have the same results on the field...mediocrity. They really didn't 'change' anything.

FSU has had a coach in waiting for a while now. I don't think Bowden stepping down was a huge shock to the kids who had committed.

What about Morgan Moses since Virginia is heading in a new direction and fired Latrell Scott. He seemed to be the main reason he commited to them anyway.

I think we should worry about LOSING some to FSU lol...........but thats JMO

+1

So far, other schools' coaching changes have been nothing but negatives for the Vols.

FSU losing Bowden = loss of 1 coach and 1 strong lean (Luc) and possibly a few others (Jones, Lemonier, etc...)

LSU losing Porter = loss of 1 coach and likely our #1 committment for 2011

Don't get me wrong, we'll be just fine with those losses, but I don't understand the assumption that other schools losing coaches means a sudden windfall for the Vols...

Never said it would be a "windfall" for the vols. Was just wondering if there were any recruits we might be able to get back in with. Just like my previous post with Morgan Moses. I think we might have a good shot at getting back in with him since UVA hired a no name coach and let go Scott.

Jeff Luc's family would not have let him go to Tennessee or anywhere far away from them, no matter what people think. Bottom line. He was going to FSU regardless. They dont even have a DC right now and he is committed to them.

We don't have that many open spots left.. I think this staff already knows who will fill those spots..

Sorry, Smokey, not picking on you, moreso on the general board mentality that coaching defections at other schools means cherry picking time for the Vols. I'm sure it'll help with some kids, but as evidenced it'll hurt with others. I guess its the nature of the recruiting beast...

No big deal. I am just one of those guys that will read everything I can that is free and like to hear from LV and others on what they think since they definitely have more information that I do myself. I do know that we lost a couple of recruits last year once fulmer was hired but I also know we picked up more than we lost.

I think it's going to be hard to pull Rees when Bray is an EE who will be on campus for months before Rees even enrolls...

FSU is a peculiar beast. Remember when people used to say "Bobby Bowden, doesn't rebuild, he reloads".... They have been down for a couple of years, probably due to Andrews and Bowden losing touch with the changes in the game. Growing up in Florida, I've seen the FSU fanbase monster at work, and if it gets rolling, they are going to be scary good. I don't know much about Jimbo Fisher so I'm not sure he's the man who will bring them back.

If you didn't live in Florida during the FSU heyday, than you cannot possibly understand how much trouble the Gators are in. IMO Meyer is not the coach Spurrier was. IF FSU is back, the team that will hurt the most is UF. ND is going to be interesting to watch, Kelly is a hell of a coach, and he may bring ND back..... DAMNIT!!!

I want FSU to be back, because the only time we'll ever play them is in the NC. I don't think any of these HC changes benefit us at all recruiting wise, other than FSU taking over the state again, and ND coming after spread offense athletes!
