loader society we live in!

Nearly half of US households escape fed income tax - Yahoo! Finance

About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009. Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability. That's according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a Washington research organization.

Thoughts other than thank you democrats?!?!

Guess I need to get married, have some kids and quit my job. Then I can rake in the dough...

At what ratio does everyone think that Atlas will shrug? I think it will have to get closer to 40% supporting the rest

That number shocks me. That is crazy. How much do you have to make if you have two kids and still not pay income taxes I wonder. How about 4 kids? Seriously...it can't be that much.

The average family with two children making 50k and taking the standard deduction will not only pay $0 income tax, they will get a check for about $80 (Primarily due to the MWPC and the EITC [the latter being refundabe]).

I agree with VBH, at the very least, a Thank You note would be in order for some of us.

something tells me that Keynes wouldn't agree with this any more than he agreed with structural deficits

hopefully the wife will work

Actually, the way the tax brackets are structured, the benefit of marriage is diminished if the wife works. In fact, couples that make the same amount of money before they get married often find themselves paying more tax after marriage. Hence the phrase, the "marriage penalty."

if your wife's pullling down a decent salary, your way better off with her working
I'll settle for paying the taxes, to have additional discretionary income

Not exactly the proper way to go about it, but I see it as 47% of the pop is living how the cnstitution intended. NO INCOME TAX. ABOLISH THE FED!!!
