Hindsight now 20/20, firing Solich and hiring Calahan set the program back years.

It has been an absolute bloodbath. As GA said in a previous thread, I am positive that Solich will walk around for the rest of this season with a permanent smile on his face.

This is one of the only times that I wish that Trev was back at ESPN. I would love to watch him twitch and squirm while describing the events taking place at his beloved school.

I sit across from a huge Nebraska fan, Solich was 16-12 over his last 28 games at Nebraska so that's why he got fired. But Calahan wasn't an improvement.

16-12 sounds bad until you consider that it encompassed a 7-7 year and then a 9-3 year . . . and that prior to finishing 16-12 he had won 13 in a row.

I'd imagine that there are a bunch of Nebraska fans sitting around saying, "If we're going to lose, we might as well lose playing Nebraska football. Bring back the option!"

I'd say Callahan has to win the Big XII next year or he is gone... If not toast by the end of this season.

what a mess. but did anyone really think BC was the answer? i never thought that much of him, and when they made that hire, first i questioned firing Solich at the time, but even when they did, i kept thinking there were better candidates out there......

better them than us, that's all i can say at this point.

I wouldn't wish this on any school. Well, except for Bama and Florida. But that goes without saying. Oh yea, and ND.

he wont win the big 12 because he wont be coaching in the big 12. The "new" AD , Old man Oz, as I now call em' will replace him quickly. There is a new moon rising in Nebraska but it will take, as mentioned above, at least 5 years for the husker faithful to see the results. In the mean time, GIG EM AGGIES!

The interesting thing is that even during the power years nebraska rarely ranked in the top-10 in recruiting though they sure did seem to get their share of athletes. but it should be noted that during a lot of that time texas and oklahoma were down. not true anymore. I doubt we will see another dominant nebraska team in my lifetime.

I love the revisionist history that tries to pass Solich off as a quality coach. He's drunk and an incompetent oaf. He's right about on the level where he should be right now.

I don't really think he's all that great, but his 9-3's and running the option is better than Callahan getting blown with the passing attack and being blown out by the Oklahoma State's and Texas Tech's of the world and having record setting losses and records being broken from back in the 60's
