Nebraska Extends Frost Contract

It's a good decision for the program. Frost has shown what he can do with a program and the biggest thing that Nebraska needs is stability.

You just nailed the difference.

Frost has shown big success as a HEAD coach. Pruitt hasn’t shown it yet.

And, before the vultures start circling, I think Pruitt has at least earned another year. And, if we were to win out including a bowl, I would be good with an extension.

Before the extension he was signed through the 2024 season so this wasn't a show for recruits. They probably just like him so far.

I think we have Pruitt until the end of 2023.

Why do you think it’s not a good decision?

Simply too early. It's part of how the Vols got into the situation of paying numerous coaches millions of dollars at the same time. One of which is washing Sabin's windshield.

I agree they need stability but they had a 7 year contract why not wait like 2 more years and evaluate where the program is at that way if they were starting to consider firing him then it wouldn't be such a large buyout, and if he's done really good then extend him then.

But it has been said over and over again that proven winners (which Frost is) are the mich better option. So why is Frost struggling so badly?

I don’t follow a Nebraska, so I don’t know.

I will say this, though. Nebraska is not in a recruiting rich area. It historically recruited Texas a lot. Leaving the Big XII made it harder to get those players. I’m sure there are other factors, but I think recruiting is their biggest challenge.

I think the jury is still out on Frost. He has had one good season as a coach. He was 4-8 last year and probably be 5-7 this year. As some have said it tough to recruit to Lincoln.

Good points. I think the AD should have waited until the end of year 3 for an extension though.

Its pretty simple - Frost is Nebraska's version of Johnny Majors and they are going to give him the time and resources to right the ship - not just because he has demonstrated success elsewhere or because they think he is doing the right things to rebuild (they probably do) but also because he is a homer.
