I am looking for some help with our Line Backer situation. What does our depth chart look like for next year. I know we lose Rico, and I am not sure who else. Also will any of the linebackers from last years class make an impact. Finally can someone give me a list of guys that we have a real shot at getting this year. Please don't list any pipe dream recruits, just guys that are legitimate signee's.

Thanks Volnation.

Thompson will be back at SLB. Reveiz and Frazier will start at MLB and WLB if they come back from the ACL tears healthy. Greg King and Herman Lathers should be the back-ups...

I don't know if we will get any of them, but the LBs we are really looking at are LaDarius Owens, Christian Jones, and Corey Nelson. There are a few guys who are fallback options, but those are the main ones right now. We have Michael Taylor and Ralph Williams committed at LB right now...

Frazier and Reviez both are have to come back from serious knee injuries.

Greg King played quite a bit as a true freshman. Jerod Askew is going to get a chance in the spring to get on the field.

LaMarcus Thompson comes back too

what about askew? his film was amazing and has great closing speed. i think he should take thompsons spot. it seemed like every damn play he was rolling around on the ground hurt, im sorry but i know the type and played with them, you dont want a puss at linebacker...

Thanks LV I appreciate it, do you guys expect our LB's to be better next year or about the same. Also who are our speed LB's it just seemed like we really needed some in last nights game.

I was going to make a thread about our Linebackers but a lil different.

has there been any talk of Moving Jacques Smith to OLB ?

IMO He Looks fast enough and would be an Animal taking on Blocks at around 230.
Im probably alone in this, but I think he could work at OLB

thompson, reveiz, frazier is a good starting 3. Mitchell-Thornton played a bunch last night (ouch) so he'll be in the mix as well in the 2 deep i guess

SLB- Thompson, King
MLB- Reveiz, Lathers
WLB- Frazier, Askew

If Reviez and Frazier can get close to 100%

Frazier is fast, and Lathers is really fast. Wouldnt be surprised if we're better at LB next year. More time in Monte's system will help. But injuries would hurt us bad just like they did this year

I've liked this idea for awhile now. depending on who all we sign for the DT and DE spots i think its a viable option.

I agree...askew looked so good on film. I hope he is able to contribute next year. However, as far as Thompson goes if we had decent depth at LB he wouldnt have played. He has been battling a stinger for most of the year and to be honest I admire his toughness to play thru. He played lights out against Florida when he was healthy.

loose rico - wow

Noticed that too, but no need to call out posters for spelling words incorrectly.

Frazier, Reveiz, and Thompson will be solid starters, but hopefully Askew, King, Taylor, etc. can add depth and we will be able to sub more. Really, I hope Hughes and Walls improve to stuff the middle. That will make the LBs much better.

As far as J Smith, he is an end. He will probably be 250 by the fall after a full 8 months in S&T program. We need him at end.

Yeah sorry about that, wasn't aware that this was a grammar class, maybe we should all pitch in and hire a grammar teacher. But thanks for not burning me at the stake like the other poster.

Sorry but Lathers will be a monster once the coaching sets in. Raynoch Thompson was rare but coaching made him an All American. Al WIlson was just great and his genes had been spliced to create a greater football player the world will ever see, ROD WILKS!!!!!
