The reality is that the transfer portal is the “new recruiting”. Let’s be honest, players commit to a program to either play more minutes, gain exposure and develop to get in the NBA, or both. Right now, TN has been getting players drafted in the NBA. The more this happens consistently , the better our chances in the portal. Just a thought 👍🏻

  • With so many Vols headed to the NFL, it's great for players inside our program. Players currently here see their buddies work, compete and do the right things and how that parlays into success on the field and on Draft Day as well.
  • It certainly helps in recruiting, too. We're top eight in the country in draft picks over the last two years. This year, second in the country in guys being called in the first three rounds.
  • We've had five wide receivers drafted, more than anyone in the country, as far as a head coach, in number of guys that have been drafted. And Darnell Wright was the first lineman from the SEC to have his name called.
  • Our strategy, how we attack people, is slightly different than other people. That's why we've been able to light up the scoreboard the way we have. A lot of what we're doing has trickled into the NFL.

edited to say ignore this post as I was out of it when I posted

Two drafted in 2021, another drafted last year, Phillips a strong candidate this year. We had a gap in 2020 but we had 3 taken in 2019. How many teams have had 6 players drafted in the last 4 years?

Now if you’ll make a left turn onto the forums page, and a right onto the football forum, you’ll find the relevant discussion you’re looking for.
