let me know what a saturday is like in vol country when bama is in town
The orange and crimson of the teams and fans blend perfectly with the autumn leaves. The temperature is perfect for football. Just a hint of a cool fall breeze. The ghosts of Neyland and Bryant oversee the proceedings. Supporters of each time regale each other with stories of battles past. Youngsters at their first UT-Bama game are in awe of the crowd. It is Southern Football at its best.

my first vols games ever were south carolina during their defeated season, and texas tech back when they sucked

my third one, however, was bama @ tennessee... i forget what year exactly, but it was amazing.. pretty dang good seats, and a good game... loved it, that type of atmosphere is tough to beat

I was at the Raider-Bucs Sunday Night Game in '04, a very, shall we say, interesting crowd.

An accurate assessment.

IMO everytime the Vols and the Tide used to play back in the day it was like watching the 2 toughest kids on the block finally get past the verbal threats and cutdowns and settle the issue. Its like the Vols now have the upper hand with the issue settled and the Gators have arrived as the new era rival tough kid that although at times the Vols have beaten them the Gators are technically anyways the SEC top team. On the other hand though the Vols are closer to equal to the Gators in a widely held view because of the way the games were played talent wise.

Let me put it this way.I have been to games when they had a winning streak against us, and I have been when we were beating them. The BAMA crowd is alot easier to tolerate when we are on the upside. Since the Bear is gone, the intimidation factor playing Bama is gone as well.

I've been to many UT/Bama games in my 38 years of attending games.

I've never encountered any problems from Bama fans, either in Knoxville, Birmmingham, or Tuscaloosa. I have heard tales, but I've never seen a problem personally.

I can say that the atmosphere in Neyland is unmatched on Bama day. Prior to the enclosure of the North Endzone it was quite a thrill to sit on the West side and watch the Pride of the Southland march down Andy Holt Av. That was always the signal that the festivites were about to begin.

I recall the glory days of the Tennessee Walking Horse prior to each game.

Then, there's nothing like getting there early, participating in the Vol Walk, and, if you've got a contact, maybe getting to visit the dressing room post-game. That was great the few times I was able to twist an arm to get there.

There's nothing to compare to Neyland on game day and Bama week is one of the best.

As it's been said, the weather's usually great, the mountains beautiful and there's football in the air.

I wouldnt know for sure, but i have heard from wise elders that Bama vs. UT is not what it used to be. Long ago the rivalry was much more

after we beat them 8 straight years i guess it wasn't as big of a deal to some

I've seen them play twice, both times at Legion Field. the first we got killed, no problem. The second was the last time we played in B'Ham, and it was bad. The guy sitting by me saw a TN fan stabbed by a BAMA fan while he was getting a hot dog. It was confirmed by the TV news. On our way back to the car we Heard two words a lot one began with an F the other a U.
