Hey gang, need help with some common sense and my (just turned) 16 y/o daughter. I realize that's an oxymoron...

I retweeted her disappointment at my saying no to a Mustong GT that her mom and mom's BF thought was a good car for her. I have very few followers (lurk and laugh at mainly college football stuff), so I used #VolNation hoping for some retweets and affirmation that I was really making a decision for her well being.

Anyway, if you are on Twitter and get a chance, I'd appreciate your help. Below is url...don't know how to paste it as live link from my phone.

Thanks and GBO!

Imo, you did the right thing. Obviously you guys know your daughter better than any of us. But, that's a lot of car for a young person. Not to mention the insurance. Holy hell.

Good luck

Glad the BF approved of her getting one. I'm sure he's not paying a f'ing penny towards the car

At 28 I feel like I would be a dead man with 400+hp. I wouldn't last a day at 16.

Also, why a GT? Is she a performance enthusiast? The modern v6 mustang is no slouch, but I would give her better chances of survival in that than the full fat v8.

I don't understand the point of this request. What do you hope to accomplish? I'm honestly curious

Thanks for the comments and humor. Guess I wasn't clear, sorry.

If you're on Twitter, search #VolNation or #commonsense and re-tweet my tweet...hopefully adding in your agreement...funny remark, etc.

Retweeting is like "liking" (I guess) and if it got a bunch of re-tweets, it might make me not look like such a jerk...and she may even see my point.

She doesn't know to look on here for me promoting it. I'm doing so on here because I have like 20 followers. I just use it to read breaking news and keep an eye on her.

So you want a bunch of random Internet dudes to check out and like your underage daughter's tweets?

I have young kids so I don't understand the new age parenting based on Twitter approval and online shaming. Figure I might need to learn about this #commonsense stuff

Ummmm. That's not what he said or asked.

And, you are still a "baby" when it comes to being a parent. Ease up.

Thanks for the help but I know exactly what he meant. He's drawing attention to his underage daughter on an anonymous forum of mostly men. I'll never have a daughter but I would guess that's the opposite of what most parents would choose. I realize it probably wasn't intentional but it's still pretty accurate

Uh, no. Unfortunately, they can do that anyway.

Good luck with your little guys in the coming years.

Any 16 year old on Twitter is already potentially drawing the attention of anybody in the Twitterverse.

You must just be bored during the off week or pissed off that Butch coached us to a win. Feel free to disregard my request, PJ.

Honda CRV seems pretty reasonable to me..

It seems like girls are less influenced by horsepower than guys, imo, but I wouldn't want either of my kids having that much car. A CRV seems more like it. 😀

What was the original tweet you responded to? Looks like it's been deleted.

Either way, good luck.

Thanks, Freak.

It was something like when your mom and step dad love you but your dad says no and showed a couple of pics of the mustang GT.

It's all good. She is a great kid!

Older rav-4 is a good way to go. That said I think a car makes a better first car instead of an SUV. The safety is typically just as good, without the risk of a rollover accident.

Wound up with a super clean 2003 Envoy. She's happy and is quickly learning about budgeting for fuel. 😎
