Apparently, E-man's defibrillator went off again so NM is not taking the chance to put him on the court for the "foreseeable future". Sorry to hear that for the young man.

I would be shocked if anyone clears him to play now. If I'm UNM's attorney and they put Negedu back on the floor, they'd be posting an opening for new counsel the next day.

That stinks! Hope he's a bright kid and does well with his education. Even with a good education and motivation, it's hard to find a job that pays a third of what an over seas pro career will get you. Tough luck.

Tough year we are having for sure and people have their thoughts about Pearl. And, whether it was his decision or not, the right call was for Negedu to not play and that was in his best interest. Glad to see this didn't end with him collapsing on the court. Kudos to UT and Pearl for taking a stand on this.

It really is a sad story but staying on the team and possibly learning to be a coach would be his best choice now. Hes taking a huge risk. I wish him the best though.

Anyone who has the image of Gathers forever ingrained in their brain urges Negedu to not attempt it. Hate it for him, but it's not worth losing your life over.

I was too young to witness it live but have seen the images and video several times. It was truly a sad experience.

I was one who said he should have hung it up the first time. I am sorry for this young man but, brother, did he get either bad advice or he let his heart rule his mind.

Btw, I think it was crap for NM to take him on in the first place. Selfish, stupid and insane.

Albuquerque {KRQE} - Questions about, Lobo sophomore,
Emmanuel Negedu's health will keep him off the
basketball court a little longer. Head coach Steve
Alford says Negedu will travel with the team but will
not practice or play for at least three weeks. When
asked if Negedu could be done for the season, Alford
only said he was sure about Negedu missing a minimum of
three weeks. Negedu has a history of heart problems and
even suffered cardiac arrest while still a player at
the University of Tennessee his freshman season. Negedu
has been under the care of a cardiologist at UNM.
Lately, tests to monitor Negedu's health have not gone
well.'

really hate it for this kid...he has just tons of athleticism, but he now has no outlet for it. Then we have guys here who won't give any effort??? maybe this teams needs a visit from Emo to remind them not to take a single day for granted. Best of luck to you in life Emo!!

Actually, Pearl didn't take a stand. The University would not clear him to play.
