The character of a person can show up in the most unexpected places.

Hoping the young man recovers quickly and completely.

Wow...just heard the news. Hope it gets back on his feet soon. That's just terrifying. I can't imagine seeing something like that...

And the jackass of the week award goes to wartburgvol. Congratulations!

Well at the time it was unfounded but I still have common sense enough to not believe everything I read. Does the story really make total sense? Something just seems to be missing

I always like it when a self- professed lawyer has to explain the world and how it works. It just proves one thing to me, there are lawyers/attorneys that are smart, make a good living, productive to society, represent the profession well. Then you have the other group, the ones that struggle to make a living, do a poor job of representing their clients and make the profession look bad with ill advised decisions.

Its been reported by multiple media outlets and you refused to believe the original story. You sir just refuse to admit you were and are wrong.

i'm soooooooo sorry I should have said seemed in my last post. Past tense instead of present I know I was wrong but at the time it didnt make sense that there was no sense of urgency by the EMTs and that was also reported. I would just hope if my heart stopped and I was revived with a defib. I would be "RUSHED" to the hospital not taken without lights/siren.:mf_surrender:

“He said his family could not afford to lose him. His family was counting on him to come to this country to get his degree and play basketball.’’

Oh no. Please tell me this kid can still play ball. If not, a tragically unfortunate situation for this kid. But thank God he's ok first and foremost

I grew up going to lmu games and watching gathers and kimble. I was at the first game Hank collapsed, when he died I cried for days. My dads business partner was very close to him and I used to ride on there shoulders as a kid. Makes me sad thinking about negedu, and I hope the longterm progosis is good

Even if he can't play ball anymore, hopefully they'll let hm keep his scholarship and get a degree.

This sucks. Negadu was awesome and seems like a great kid.

Im not a cardiologist, I just work in that field. I believe that Hank Gathers died of activity induced V-Tac due to complications from an enlarged heart.

This sounds more like SVT because at the time, he wasnt in activity.

If it was VTach, he could have transitioned into VFib with will cause an immediate flat line.

Either way, I would suspect his playing career is over. I hope it isnt.
I have heard of low K levels causing this arrhythmia though.

Dawson can you please post a report of what happened? I thought he collapsed just after running across the indoor football field in a race with Bobby Maze?

Something about having a surgery in a month to place a Defibulator(?). May have that wrong, but something to that affect. Also said his adoptive parents are on the way here from England. Also said that Pearl and staff plan to keep him on with the program and involved.

I'm guessing they'll keep him on as a student assistant. I know Summitt did that with one of her players recently who couldn't play anymore due to chronic knee problems.

By doing that, I think they can keep him on scholarship without using one of the 13 scholarships for active players.

I dont know exactly what happened. Just by what I have read. You guys probably know more about what actually went down more than I do since I live in Middle TN.

If he was racing, then it could have been a VFib situation which is extremely scary and dangerous. Heart isnt pumping blood at that point.

Either way, his playing career is most likely over. Very sad.
