He is carrying the hitters on my fantasy team right now. Absolutely killing it.

Let's set an over/under on how many he hits. Let's say 34.5, and I'll go under.

Only the third player ever to homer in his first four games.....and with Tidwell's over/under I'm going under

Under. No way he plays all thise games and with Hamilton out, their entire lineup is going to struggle a little.

So Hamilton being out makes Nelson Cruz worse at hitting the baseball?
RBIs or whatever might suffer SOME, but it doesn't change how Cruz hits.

When the best hitter on a team goes down, the entire lineup suffers.

Cruz can still hit a baseball just the same but he isn't going to get the same pitches without Hamilton in the lineup.

Baseball 101.

The lineup production suffers because David Murphy is not Josh Hamilton, not because the rest of the lineup, i.e. Nelson Cruz, will do far worse.

It might matter SOME in very weak lineups, but this team doesn't fit that bill.

Might matter some?

I guess the reigning MVP of the league doesn't provide protection for who hits in front of him and doesn't allow the guy behind him to see better pitches as well cause he is on base so much.

The reigning MVP provides MVP numbers and absolutely mashes the baseball. That is where the lineup/production suffers. Josh Hamilton > David Murphy. It doesn't make Cruz, or whoever, a better or worse hitter.

Skill wise, you are correct.
Nelson will be able to hit no matter if he had a bunch of little leaguers as teammates.

As far as seeing better pitches and having more RBI chances, you are wrong.

Won't be a noticeable difference in the seeing pitches department.

And the RBIs are... again... because David Murphy isn't Josh Hamilton.

If Hamilton was protecting Cruz in the lineup, ie, batting right after him or something like that, it might make a difference. In all the box scores I've looked up, Hamilton was batting 2-3 spots ahead of Cruz and so is Murphy. That's baseball 101. Cruz's # will differentiate just because no one can go on such a tear for so long, but the theory of it being the loss of Josh Hamilton is wrong. If anything came from losing Josh Hamilton, it would be pitchers going right at Nelson Cruz because there is no one on base. I doubt that happens though.

Cruz es en fuego once again. 5 homers in the last 7 days and he's on pace for 38 on only 448 AB's. Tied for 5th in the AL in homers and he missed 17 games.
