Did you hear that explanation given on ESPN Radio this morning regarding NET and NCAA Tournament seeding? They discussed Tennessee as either a #2 or #3 seed depending on their next two games. What was odd though is that the guy was explaining some teams NET ranking and one was LSU. They asked why Arkansas is behind several other SEC schools in the NET ranking and they mentioned LSU which Arky has beaten three times this year. The guy explained that LSU's losses were higher quality losses. After a follow up question, he said 3 of LSU's losses were to Arkansas which helps their NET. So...if I followed correctly, then he is saying LSU benefit over Arkansas in the NET because they actually lost to them? This makes no sense.

Yeah, if the games were close and then Arkansas lost to trash teams by 30 then the NET will favor LSU, from how I understand it. Just because Arkansas is good against LSU theoretically doesn’t mean they’re actually good, could just be a matchup thing. Obviously we know Arkansas is actually good and the NET is overly penalizing early season losses, but still

Resume is just one component of the NET. It has an efficiency component too. Which I’m guessing their model likes LSU in. The NET definitely isn’t perfect

You did not follow correctly. It was a benefit to have a loss against a Q1 team like Arkansas OVER having a loss to teams like Hofstra or Vandy. Bad losses hurt your NET more than average wins help.
