The girls in the pictures look like they absolutely hate them judging by their expressions. Can't say I blame them.

Oh, my: Are they serious? They look terrible. I thought their home uniforms from last year were bad--with the three horizontal orange stripes. These are much worse. What happened to just the solid orange that they showed when all the unis were unveiled a week or so ago? I'm sorry, but checkerboard is a HORRIBLE look for uniforms. It looks good as an end zone design, does not look good as a jersey. There is a reason we almost never see checkerboards on uniforms. Please say no this design.

It's an alternate, also it reminds me of the Croation uniforms shown above. I've always like those for some reasons

Number 11 has a look of shock on her face....Too funny.

It's all in what you like, or in this case, what the school likes.....

Judging by this thread fashion design must be the easiest profession in the world. Just throw together any combination of colors and shapes and then when people throw up in their mouth a little you can say it is just a matter of personal taste.

And there is always someone who will like whatever you come up with so what does it really matter what you do?

The bad thing for the players is that they are a captive audience. They have no choice in the matter so the job becomes even easier.

Uniforms - regardless of the sport - seem to fall into three categories: Those that aren't noticed, those that get noticed because they are attractive, and those that get noticed because they are ugly. For me, the uniform in the photos above fall into the last category, although it's borderline. If it weren't for the checkerboard I'd never notice this uniform.

It looks too much like a plaid jacket that was part of a school uniform some British school kid was wearing in the early 1900's.

I like them. The looks on the girls faces have nothing to do with the uniform design. Some of you are reaching for that one. They are trying to look serious and business like. They get a thumbs up from me and I'm an old fart.

Think about all the teams, in all sports at all the levels, over all the many years you've been watching games: how many checkerboard outfits have you seen? Exactly--and there's a reason.

They don't usually coordinate the cleats and the uniforms in soccer, like they do in football for instance

+1

Players are incredibly picky about what's on their feet. There's that whole magic thing about touch on the ball.

* ponders enormous sums paid for kangaroo leather boots/cleats *

eta: this being said, back in my days as a ref, you would have had to wave a gun at me to take away my Reeboks. Those were completely awesome boots: stop when I wanted, and dig in and go when it was time.

eta #2: doubtless this was completely unrelated to my torn meniscus, resulting arthritis, and eventual partial knee replacement.

Edit: spellcheck let me down. :cray:

Can't believe you asked AC that. Kind of blew any minutia of credibility you might have had.
Not really. The question doesn't have anything to do with my credibility. If he thinks these uniforms are way out of the norm, I assumed he hadn't watched much soccer. The uniforms in soccer are quite varied and I've seen some wild looking jerseys. That was the basis of my statement. If he is a soccer fan, then I don't understand why he thinks these uniforms are so different.

My concern is, are these home or away?

I'm thinking home, but when your teammate turns downfield, how similar is she going to appear from behind to the opponents' white away unis?

Take one of those checks and run it across the shoulder blades as an orange bar. It won't improve aesthetics, but it might improve field recognition and passing.

With all the discussion we have about uniforms here... someone needs to design a smilie that looks like Edith Head!

It's an alternate, so most likely it will be used as a second away kit if the first one clashes with the opponent's colors.

They will be used in place of a white jersey.

In the SEC, teams wear white uniforms at home on Friday and colored uniforms on Sunday, so visiting teams do not have to do laundry on a Friday-Sunday trip.
