You're crazy. Jones knows nothing about talent or coaching football. Haven't you been listening to the experts here?

.... I'm a stinker, huh?

Good or bad, I stopped reading or listening to anything from Feldman. Ever since he said Bell was announcing his commitment to the Vols on NSD, and an hour later we all know what happened.

Right, he was one of about 15 guys reporting that day that got that one wrong.

Nobody confirmed anything, recruiting isn't Feldman's forte so if you believed him over others then that is on you not him.

Yea, one of the bigger name guys that covers college football confirms that Bell signed his LOI and will be announcing live that its with UT and its my fault for listening?? This board blew up when Feldman said that. Usually when a prediction turns into a confirmation, people believe it.

This was not an opinion piece. This was more an historical fact piece around Butchs history of identifying and projecting kids' potential. Listed a few examples of kids going from lowly or average rated coming out of high school to turning into outstanding college players and then bring drafted. Don't see how this relates to what Feldman thought about where Bell was signing. And I'm one of the guys that wanted Feldman to take a long walk off a short pier after VB signed with OSU.

Are you seriously this delusional?

Here is an observation. I suspect that Jones/Tennessee will get more visibility with the sports media just because Jones hails from the Midwest. Nothing bad about that for UT. I just believe that the sports media in general is a little partial to that region.

Who knows? We may just get a Heisman winner if CBJ is successful.

People who love the low rated recruits love these articles...

I like reading about hard working, tough minded kids who get the most out of their talent and go on to do more than anybody predicted they would. I also like reading about coaches who see those types of kids, take a risk on them, coach them up and develop them to their potential and then win championships with them.

I also really like reading about 4 and 5 star studs (eg, Hurd, TKJr, Bates) who put up huge numbers and accomplish great things in highschool and then want to come play for UT.

His article is about the highest rated tackles in the draft not about how they are recruited but the journeys that led them to the top of this position.

Correct and to point out that projecting OL is a very inexact science. Most of the top OL tend to be late bloomers who have athleticism. Many of the top ranked OL coming out of HS are as developed as they are going to be.

Right but nowhere does he try to rate HS players or predict where they will go to college as he was being hammered for by the person on the 1st page of this thread which generated this whole line of discussion.

I like it a lot, particularly that Mahoney was the offensive line coach during the development of Staley and (at least at the beginning) Fisher. I know most of us were sad to see Sam Pittman go but this gives me some confidence that the replacement will do a good job as well.
