Stanford AD reportedly accepts job.

Stanford Cardinal AD Bob Bowlsby accepts Big 12 commissioner job, source says - ESPN

Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby has accepted the Big 12 Conference commissioner job, with the announcement to be made Friday in Dallas, a source told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.

Bowlsby replaces Dan Beebe, who was fired in September 2011 as the Big 12 seemed on the brink of falling apart, with Oklahoma, Texas and others flirting with the Pac-12.

Chuck Neinas has been serving as the interim commissioner.

Bowlsby has told his staff he will remain with the Cardinal until June, according to The Associated Press.

After six years at Stanford, Bowlsby will take over a BCS conference that seems to have found some stability after losing four schools the past two years. It will head into this fall with 10 members, including two additions in TCU and West Virginia.

Bowlsby was in Phoenix the past few days as the Big 12 and Pac-12 meetings overlapped. He is highly respected by his Pac-12 colleagues, and sources said he had a strong endorsement from conference commissioner Larry Scott.

Bowlsby was influential in the Pac-12 negotiating a new television agreement that will show all of its games next season on a number of networks, including ESPN, Fox Sports and a new Pac-12 network.

Bowlsby also is a former chairman of the NCAA men's basketball committee.

He'll need to add two more schools and revive the divisions/conference championship game.

They seem fairly happy with the round robin scheduling and the idea of preserving it for now.

If anything, the l think his priority 1 needs to be creating/increasing some sort of (feeling of) stability among the conference members, versus one of messy volatility

I have heard nothing but good things about him. Beebe was a puppet for Texas AD Dodds.

If this had been last year I wonder if would have given Missouri reason to wait out and stay in Big 12. We will never know.

Goat,

You just don’t get it. You're continued pursuit to spew garbage that you perceive as factual information regarding TAMU is admirable.

Obsession noted.

Great for them. Heard good things about this guy. I would imagine they will start adding this year for next year.

I think I'd rather be the AD at Stanford than captain of that sinking ship.

I've heard rumors of invitations being sent to Florida State and Clemson from the Big 12. Some reports claim that this could put their per team tv money at $30 mil. Anyone think there is anything to that?

EDIT: Nevermind, just found that thread.
