Bracketology - ESPN

Lunardi has us as a 7 seed but this is also yesterday before we played so he has us coming off the loss to Alabama. Clemson, Xavier, UCLA, and WV all lost yesterday who are ahead of us in seeding so i would think as of now we are still a 6 POSSIBLY a 5. It looks like we can defenitely get a 5 and possibly a 4 though if we win the SEC TOURENY! GO VOLS!!!

Now what would make you think that beating the crap out of an absolutely awful Bama team would have that much effect on our seeding?

We went from a 7 to a 4 in a hurry there.

If someone jumps in a time machine and performs a tactical nuclear strike on Oklahoma City and New York we could be, get this, a 2!!!!!

You can simply 'jump' by surviving right around this time of the year.

That said, I don't see how anything short of an SEC title can get us out of a 7 slot. I mean possible 6s seem like West va., asu, purdue, marquette, texas, clemson...I mean I don't think beating bama and auburn warrants being elevated over any of those teams.

I disagree.... Both Alabama and Auburn were peaking at the right time. A win over them now goes a lot further in seeding than it would have earlier in the season

I agree with you in theory, but I don't think the committee is gonna look at AU or bama and say "ok, well they're not tourney teams, but they've both had some good wins lately, so let's bump the vols up to a 6 in place of purdue/asu/etc."

I mean the teams that are potential 6s just have better resumes and most are still in their conference tourneys. No way do we jump an ASU team that just beat washington, or purdue if they beat illinois, or etc....

I think we've locked into a 5-7 range based on how other teams fall and our performance tomorrow. At lease we're probably out of the 8/9 game.

I really hope we have a shot at a 5, but I just don't see it based on the teams ahead of us doing so well(asu, purdue, cuse, fsu, the list is unending) so far, and our conference being perceived as weak.

6 seems our peak.

I mean let's look here

1s: louisville, unc, pitt, uconn
2s: memphis, msu, duke, okie
3s: kansas, nova, wake, mizzou
4s: wash, cuse, zags, fsu
5s: asu, purdue, illinois, ucla, clemson, xavier, lsu, west va., marq., texas, utah

We'd have to jump 6 of those teams around the 5 spot. That's gonna be awfully tricky.

I think a 6 would not be that bad. I'd rather play a 2 and a 3 seed to get to the elite 8 than one of the 1 seeds (unless we are in Memphis' bracket).

I hope that we are placed in Miami. I'm going to be in Ft. Lauderdale for spring break this week and will most definitely make the trip down.

With our RPI and SOS they can't possibly give us anything lower than a 5 even if we lose today. Having those numbers that high and being in your Conference CG should warrant that.

However the 7 seed if we'd lost yesterday could have been possible because that would be back to back losses and wouldn't be nearly as "hot" as we are on paper with the 5 out of 6 wins.

A win today and there is no reason we aren't a 4 seed.

Only 2 SEC teams.

It's funny how the Big 10 is basically identical to the SEC, only with more problems scoring and they get 7 teams? Take out MSU, Purdue, and Illinois and you have the same Auburn, South Carolina, and Florida's throughout the rest of the conference.
