Yeah... not the first time they've changed the criteria in order to get the stars involved, won't be the last.

I don't know why I didn't see this coming. I can't say much, they did it to get my man in last year.

If they want to make it more exciting then change the cars. Right now, in it's current form they're just bigger bulkier Indy cars. I want to see stock car racing. Give the cars back to the pit crews also, instead of the nazi mandate by Suckcar.

• The 12 drivers that qualified for the 2009 Chase
• Past Cup Series champions
• Past Budweiser Shootout champions
• Past Daytona points race winners
• The reigning rookie of the year

They considered a rule that would allow any son of a former driver of a black car with a single digit on the door and a mustache but decided to go with the past points race winners instead.

No doubt. Pretty funny how they continuously find a way to change the rules when it's obvious what they're doing.

They should be set on this race now since they don't take away past wins, yet.

maybe they should have done that two years ago instead of expanding the chase to 12 cars, cause seems thats not working out to well for Jr.

Great way to slap the face of any drivers who won a pole last year, thought they were qualified for the race, then got bumped out because they don't qualify under the new rules.

It won't be long before they change the rules to allow the fans to vote 1 driver into the chase, the way they've done with the all star race.

I hope not. Then JR could start and park every race and still have a chance...

Actually, the "previous Bud Shootout winners" provision is not a new rule, they've had that before.

The two new rules never used before are "reigning rookie of the year" and "all past Daytona winners". Those rules seem to be an benefit for Toyota more than anyone else. That gets in Joey Lagano and Kyle Busch.

Ky. Busch was going to be in under the 'top 6 in each manufacturer' rule which was in place before they changed it again this year.
