Let me start by saying this is a NCAA forum and thus an appropriate place for this thread.

So Joker is gone, I'm hearing crazy names on the radio and elsewhere. Who would you like to see as the head coach next year? I'd like to see UK go after Tressell first and perhaps Kirby Smart after that? What say you?

Joker Phillips.

I could see them letting him go earlier than the end of the year. Seriously

I could too if he hadn't been born in the Commnwealth and a letterman there in the 80s...he'll get till the end of the year, plus he's well liked (except the whole football thing)

We get Florida at the Swamp and USCjr after that. We could easily lose those by a combined 100 points. They may cut him loose with a 1-4 start like that.

Plus I bet the kids play well @ UF - in a lot of ways they're playing with nothing to lose, the worst has already happened...talent is better than it has been since 2007 so if the young guys on D can grow in experience and confidence I could see them winning a game they aren't supposed to.

Won't be the first call, but I think Luke Fickell could be an interesting option for Kentucky. Don't see Smart or Tressell being a serious option. Tressell because of the show cause, and Smart appears to be content to wait for the perfect job opening and no offense but I just don't see him thinking that about Kentucky. Fickell has a very solid resume as an assistant coach, and has numerous connections which could really help Kentucky get into Ohio in recruiting. With Kentucky only being three hours from his hometown, you guys could really exploit this area. Granted, his short time as interm head coach did not go well, but he was put into a tough situation.

Interesting, if I'm the administration I'm not taking any names off the table (except Phillips, Sanders and Minter).

Florida will beat us senseless as will spurrier.

Probably but they are coming down off a big game and have a big game the following week...if we can stop a few sluggish drives early and grow some confidence on D (and have Smith throw < 4 INTs) maybe they can scare them going into half.

Your Kentucky, you can't afford to hire a coach like Tressell or Smart or even Leach...You'll settle for some unknown assistant from northern illinois a&m or some school like that...You got too much invested in basketball, football isn't important at Kentucky...But good luck finding someone who's ready to commit career suicide.

The good thing for your administration is that since it is painfully obvious Joker is done, they have plenty of time to consider all options and gauge peoples interest through back channels. Also, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to contact some recently fired NFL coaches like Sparano and Delrio and try to follow what UCLA did with Mora. Also, since our fans always like to throw in Manning for all of our coaching threads, I'll throw in Couch for you guys :). He'd be an upgrade of Joker since the camera would be constantly moving to Heather Kozar.
