Waco, Texas safety Ahmad Dixon spent what he described as a fun and exciting week at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl facing questions of where he may attend college next year. The talented Lone Star State defensive back has been committed to Baylor for quite some time, but things changed recently and he decided to take a few looks.

"I've tried to keep it quiet," Dixon said. "It's been hard, but I think I've done a pretty good job."

Dixon made his decision privately earlier this week when he called coaches and told them of his decision.

"I called coach (Lane) Kiffin and told him I wanted to be a Vol," Dixon said. "I couldn't pass up the chance to play for one of the greatest coaches in football in (Vols defensive coordinator) Monte Kiffin. The guy (Willie Mack Garza) recruiting me is actually going to be my position coach. They were really happy. They told me it was one of the best decisions that I've ever made."

After telling the Tennessee staff, Dixon decided to break the news to a couple of guys he'll be playing with next year. He told Vol commitments Jacques Smith and Markeith Ambles and followed that up with a photo opportunity of the three future Vols.

Thursday night he spent most of the evening doing a good bit of talking with the other prospects.

"I was talking trash to some of the Texas commitments," Dixon said with a laugh. "I'm glad Alabama won because next year we will be able to say we beat the National Champs."

Ultimately the entire atmosphere in Knoxville led to Dixon's final decision.

"I just enjoyed my visit," Dixon said. "The coaches speak for themselves. What they are doing there is going to be special and I've always been a guy that wasn't going to go for the front-runner. I think they are doing special things there by building a program that is going to compete for championships. Plus they offer early playing time."

At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Dixon could fill a void in a Vols secondary that has already lost All-American Eric Berry and could also lose defensive back Dennis Rogan.

"I think I make my way to the ball well," Dixon said. "I feel like I'm good at tackling and I think the hard work I've put in has really made me a solid player. I still have stuff I need to work on like turning my hips faster and shedding blocks. I'm working in the weight room to improve myself in those areas."

Tennessee is recruiting Dixon to play safety and he chooses the Vols over Alabama, Auburn and Baylor. He says he is finished with visits and will enroll at Tennessee for the first term of summer school.

Rivals.com rates Dixon as a four-star prospect and top 100 player.

As of now...I would go with Dixon at FS and Myles at SS and Jackson at CB. Not that Dixon is a better FS but Jackson can play CB at a high level and we need someone there. Myles moving to OLB is all I could see to change that or other recruits unknown. Does anyone else think this is most likely as of now?
