It's time for the entire face of UT football to change, I'm sorry this old UT tradition of lining up and lets see if you can stop us has got to end we need some new faces and fresh ideas.
Let's look back 10 years or so, 2 SEC titles and 1 NC, with the personal UT has had there should have been at least 2 more NC's and several SEC titles. Look at how many players are in the NFL from UT in the past 10 years, as much or more than most other colleges in the country, we won a NC in 98 but look at the talent on that team a decent high school staff could have coached them.
I think UT needs to get a head coach fron outside the UT family, someone is not afraid to buck traditon, UT is stale and geting boring and the players don't seem up. Fulmer going hip hip horray :lolabove: doesn't get it anymore. When Spurrier left the NFL I thought if UT could get him as head coach if would have been the best thing to happen to Big Orange football in 50 years, what did Fulmer do when Spurrier left he went straight to the AD and renewed his contract, smart thinking Mr. Fulmer.
For Tennessee to get to the next level a major change had to be made, we have had the talent, so if you have the talent all that is left is for the coaching staff to extract the talent from each and every player on every play and provide them with a game plan to use that talent.
The bottom line is the coaching staff has had the tools to win but they have their heads stuck so far in the past everyone else is surpassing us with less talent but better coached players and much better game plans, we need someone to come in and throw away the UT playbook and start over, what did Fla. do they went outside of their system and hired UT people and a Tennessee boy (Spurrier) and built a winnig program. It's time for some fresh ideas get a coaching staff that doesn't care about tradition just whatever it takes to win games.

I disagree. I think we need to go back to the way things were. You said it yourself, 2 SEC Championships and an MNC.

Right now, we look like we are trying to change. But mostly, we look like we are riding the fence.

UF would be a great team for some part time UT fans to pull for!

Bring back the single-wing!

Seriously, I don't think you get rid of a coach like Fulmer until you have a string of bad (4 - 5 loss) seasons in a row. The SEC championship has been in the hands of UT, Bama, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Auburn. In other words, since 1998 - half of the teams in the SEC have won the championship. Add to that Arkansas and Miss. St. playing in the championship game.

In the last 10 years, UT and Florida have been in this game 4 times, Auburn 3 times, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama 2 times and the rest 1 time. Florida has 3 wins, UT and LSU have 2.

Bottomline, it's tough to be consistently on the top of this conference.

You got it figured out. Fulmer thinks he is above reproach. {last nights radio program is evedence of that.} He has a rude awakening coming as do the Vol Nation if change is not made on offense. .

Great post Volinbham . . .

The problem with most of the people wanting a "New Era" is that they have no concept of what real mediocrity looks like.

The problem with the argument that Fulmer needs to go is this....Where do you think all of this talent came from? Fulmer and his recruiting ability. I know some of you will argue that anyone could recruit at UT but I do not think this is the case. Tennessee produces very little in-state D1 talent and beleive it or not most kids in California or Florida do not grow up dreaming of being a Vol. Yes we are a top ten program and have great facilities but so do countless other schools in a lot of top recruits back yards. One of the great recruiting tools we have is stability within the coaching staff. How do you think we got Morley? You think we get Simon, Meachem, the Clausens, Burnett or countless other top high schoolsers without Fulmer? I will concede that you can question some of our play calling and game-day coaching but the recruiting aspect you cannot. So everyone just keep in mind when complaining about the "lack of production" that the talent would not have even been there without Fulmer, and he has won more than any other coach out there in programs with equal or greater talent. Anyone who thinks UT has had more talent than UM, FLA, FSU, USC is crazy. All I know is everyone who wants Fulmer's head better be careful what they wish for. I would love to see some changes in philosophy but someone name one school that has been as consistent in the win column as UT with CPF at the helm other than maybe FSU, which by the way was more talented than UT in 98.
