My wife and I welcomed our son (Neyland) into the world recently on April the 30th. Complicated pregnancy, at the beginning of the pregnancy the OB told us my son was ectopic and that there was no chance of success for an ectopic embryo to make it and that it would kill my wife if we decided to continue on with the pregnancy. This was hard on my wife especially because we had been trying for 6 years to get pregnant, including a failed attempt at IVF. She was rushed into the hospital for emergency surgery and after 45 mins the doctor came into the waiting room and told me that she saw no reason to remove the embryo. So when my wife came to I was able to tell her that we were still pregnant.....needless to say it was all an emotional roller coaster. Fast forward to delivery and the doctor who delivered my son asked my wife if she could use pictures from the surgery and write a case report on my wife and our pregnancy, because my son was after all ectopic, his head was in my wife's tube. We got very lucky that my wife's water broke to relieve pressure because my son ran out of room in the womb and was delivered at 33 weeks old. He also has an omphalocele (some of his internal organs like stomach and intestines formed in a sack outside of his abdomen, can be repaired when he's around 1) so he is in the NICU in Charlotte right now for the next couple of months getting healthy enough to come home. If you will please Vol family keep my son and my family in your thoughts and prayers through this journey of us getting our son home safely and healthy. With his name being Neyland, I imagine i gave him no choice but joining us in cheering on our beloved Vols!
