Question - how does Georgia Tech recruit so well recently? The coach just a great recruiter or what? I know a top prospect in next years class has a brother on the team or something.

A result that will fly under the radar: Rapidly improving Baylor defeated Notre Dame. Scott Drew has assembled a nice array of talent in Waco. Given the jumbled nature of the Big XII, the Bears could make some noise.

A certain Memphis AAU coach has his head permanently buried in Paul Hewitt's backside. That's big part of his recruiting success.

I'm guessing Bruce will never be the kind of guy who will have AAU coaches helping him out like that.

Are there certain AAU coaches in Tennessee who help the Vols out who shouldn't be named? I'm guessing we don't have any in Nashville or Memphis.. :p

Bruce has very strong ties with a number of high school and AAU coaches in the midwest, dating back to his days at Iowa. Personally, as long as the AAU coach isn't too heavyhanded and lets the player and his parents make the ultimate decision and there isn't a financial or other benefit passed to the coach, I have no problem with those guys telling their players which college coaches they trust.

What's your take on Hopson? You can take that to the recruiting forum thread or answer it here. Does he sign with MSU during the early signing period? If not do you think we are a top 3 choice?

Every recruitment of an elite player that Rick Stansbury is involved in turns into a soap opera. At the end of the day, I think he goes to Mississippi State. If not, it turns into a Pearl v. Gillispie battle.

Hmm - hopefully our roster compared to theirs will give us an advantage in that department. They are in need of some big guys down low and we will be in need of a few guards.

But he's already heard what Pearl has had to say but Tubby was still at the helm when he decided on MSU.. so that could give UK an advantage over us there.
