Let me preface this by saying that I do not, for one second, want to sound like that guy from Bama that made the comment about the hurricane and a national championship...but as a sport management major, several questions like this do crop up in the mind:

Is it possible the UT/LSU game would be postponed to later in the year (such as Florida in 2001), or possibly cancelled altogether?

What happens if they are unable to play several games?

What about Tulane's scheduled athletic events (or even the university itself)?

What about the Saints? Do they play all road games, play "home" games in Birmingham, or pack up and move the franchise to L.A.

What about the New Orleans Hornets? Do they move again, skip this season, or does the franchise fold?

The future of these franchises impacts not only their respective leagues, but also seriously affects the administration, staff, and players for each team--many of whom are Louisiana residents. :(

My best guess is that the Saints will be playing their home games in Tiger Stadium until the Superdome is repaired. I also here moving the home games all the way to San Antonio is in the cards.

From what I've seen, Baton Rouge got hit but not hard enough to keep things out of commission for anything more than a little while. Obviously their game against North Texas has been postponed, but they should be ready to go. A CNN reporter was in Baton Rouge during the hurricane, and it was pretty windy but he could still walk around alright and everything, and another was out in a parking lot adjacent to Tiger Stadiums.

As for Tulane, I'd imagine their home games will probably be moved to another field further West.

Yeah, ESPN.com just put an article up saying the Saints had been in contact with San Antonio officials, and the Alamodome has been offered as an alternative home site for the Saints. Apparently Saints owner Tom Benson also has a lot of ties to San Antonio and is a big-time car dealer there.

Thats GOOD news then.

I believe, even in this horrible disaster the people in those areas still need for things to continue as close to a norm as possible.

Saints are looking at the Alamodome in San Antonio as a choice, as that is where they will stay. They are familiar with the surroundings, practice at Trinity Field, and they stayed in the Marriott there during the last hurricane scare. Other possibilities are Tiger Stadium (LSU) or Legion Field (Birmingham).

That would be cool if they played at Legion Field, I might actually go to a game.

I heard that Legion Field had structural problems.

Sadly I think pro sports in the city of New Orleans is done for good. I think the Saints have pretty much said they're not comming back and look for the Hornets to go to Vegas.

I think the Jail Blazers are as much as you can handle.

I can tell you Trails are not the only thing our team is blazing.

But I think we could handle an NFL team.

Yes, AAA Portland Beavers feed the San Diego Padres

We were close to getting the Expos but the weather in Portland makes getting a baseball team a bad idea unless we build a dome.

The Hornets are heading to Oklahoma City for this season. After that, I think Lost Wages is a possibility. David Stern and the other NBA bigwigs have been drooling over that market for quite a while. I think the "New Orleans" Saints have played their last game. :boredom:
